He doesn't call the plays.

Never mind....maybe you will watch a Clemson game one day.

Good one.
I don't care, I'm just telling you that you're wrong. Dabo might OCCASIONALLY call for a play, but Clemson has co-OCs that share the playcalling duties. Dabo isn't one of them.

Two years of nearly an entire staff flip + a subpar (by our standards) 2018 signing class?
Some of you need to get your heads out of your asses

So the entire freshman class will be ready to contribute right away?
Did you see the lack of depth at DL this year?

And the way we do that is by demanding a retirement date of the reigning SEC champion who has won 28 of his last 30 (not to mention all the prior success) and is about to pull in one of the best recruiting classes of the last decade and then jetgating him?
Nah, I'll keep my head firmly up my arse, thanks.

There's no chance Saban let's someone that young and inexperienced run the offense though.
on the flip side, a young and ambitious OC is more likely to not get flustered or frustrated when the head coach "advises" him what to do.

No, but shockingly the #1 2017 class is still here and will make up the bulk of the contributors to next year, followed by a bunch of sophomores from this class plus a few from 2018. Sorry, I won't play your dumb narrative game.

How many interior defensive linemen are in the 2017 class?
2018?

2016 - Raekwon Davis - Will need to play better
2017 - Phidarian Mathis - Needs to step up big time
2018 - Christian Barmore - Question mark
2018 - Tevita Musika - Question mark
2019 - DJ Dale - Question mark, true freshman which is why I didn't mention the 2019 class.
So we have 2 interior linemen with game experience, ready to go 15 games?

2017: Mathis, Ray
2018: Wynn and Barmore (both of whom the staff view as real contributors as sophomores)
2019 will have at minimum Alfano.
Davis also returns.
No one is saying that DL has been sufficiently recruited, but pointing to one area of weakness as a sign of overall failure in incredibly reductive and stupid.

You realize new backups are generally "question marks" most years, especially ones where we lose 1-2 guys?
If you want to include the guys that shift down sometimes then tack on Ray, Wynn, Alfano, etc.
We missed on some DTs the last few years, but we have a returning starter, a returning contributor and 2 returners who have a year in the program plus 1-2 true freshmen. And that is at a position that basically has 1 starter. It isn't perfect, but it certainly isn't some sort of Defcon 1 situation.

Listen, I get it. We are in great shape...better than nearly everyone else. But there are signs of a combo of flaws. You cant sustain elite level of success with constant staff turnover and recruiting misevalutions.

I don't disagree with any of that. I'm not ready to demand a date of retirement and then fly off to Clemson and beg Dabo to come to Tuscaloosa, though.

Saban is great but he must be an absolute pain in the arse to work for.

Yes, some people need to get their heads out of their asses.

Now? No.
But after spring ball, summer S&C program, a juco or 2, and fall camp...you bet your arse we'll be ready for another 15 games.
