What SEC coach should get coach of the year? What coach has exceeded expectations up to this point of the season?

A few weeks ago I would have said Stoops, Mullen, Smart, and Orgeron.

Now I think it's Smart and Orgeron -- whoever wins out get's it.

Stoops
Kentucky were predicted at O/U 5.5 wins
Predicted to finish 5th in the east.

They SHOULD win 9 Games regular season and are 2nd in the east.

Nick. We have dominated every team this year.

We don’t usually beat them this badly. So he has exceeded expectations.

A lot of people said Vols would lose every SEC game again this year and struggle to win 4 games

Definitely not Orgeron. He brought in a transfer QB who has not paid off.

Orgeron the Alabama loss was not competitive but when you’re picked fifth in the West he’s done a good job.

I would have to agree
How can anyone other than Saban get it?
This season has been a masterpiece for the tide
Others have done a lot w far less talent but Saban has coached one hell of a season

Stoops and it’s not even close....just took Kentucky to a 9 win season and 2nd place finish in the SEC East

Seems weird to give it to a 2nd place divisional coach. He may deserve it but just seems weird.

It’s no surprise to anyone that Bama is undefeated at this point of the season. They’ve been favored in every game that they have played.

I tend to agree, but for me it does have a lot to do with expectations and results. I know I'm going to get downvoted for this, but it's why Saban is not in consideration in my opinion. He's doing what he is supposed to be doing.

Smart may be in this category soon enough, too.

I would say Orgeron. Everybody gave him crap and absolutely no credit as a coach, and he has done very well this year.

Cannot be O. He was 25th preseason and predicted 5th in the West. Only 7th in last rankings and likely second finish in the West. Should be fired under LSU fans expectations and standards.

Most thought 2nd, and a few even said 1st.

Smart has not exceeded expectations. They were rated #2 all season...

No downvote from me. I agree. When you have the best talent, you should win. Granted, Saban has beaten everybody convincingly, but he should. He's an amazing coach, though. How he keeps his kids motivated every single year is phenomenal.

Mos expected a pretty large dropoff preseason, though. However, I don't think he has exceeded expectations as much as Orgeron and Stoops. For me those two lead the pack.
