Wasn't Georgia picked to win the East?

I never understood the logic of giving "Coach of the year" to the coach of the team who exceeded expectations.
If he were so good, why was his team's expectations low in the preseason?

I'd give coach of the year to a coach of a team who did the best job of overcoming unexpected setbacks, like injuries, etc.

I am thinking either Stoops or Pruitt. Kentucky hasn't been mention among divisional championships in a very long time, and Tennessee was a dumpster fire by all accounts. Beating #11 Kentucky was a big deal. Of course, how both teams finish the season is important.

No downvote from me. I agree. When you have the best talent, you should win. Granted, Saban has beaten everybody convincingly, but he should. He's an amazing coach, though. How he keeps his kids motivated every single year is phenomenal.

Agreed. It's like me pulling up to drag race in a Huracan and then destroying a 911 Carrera. It's what's expected. The Huracan driver will win the race, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a better driver than the other.

Yeah, so that honestly means Smart is out upon reconsideration, if I'm being honest.

Orgeron and Stoops would be my two. Mullen made a strong push, but getting destroyed by Mizzou and needing a comeback miracle vs USC don't really impress me much.

Now that the regular season is over. I’m going to say that Stoops should get the nod.
