I knew the answer to this I just wanted someone else to say it.

Don't worry, I hear that we are in play for the #1 recruit in Estonia. Just give Frank a little time.
Posted on 11/9/18 at 9:55 pm to jackmanusc
Are we going to throw out the "we're young" and "we don't have enough healthy players to practice" excuses every single year? And at what point do we quit giving Frank a pass since he got to the Final Four, and require him to actually get better results in recruiting?
There's just no excuse for where this program is currently when it was far more competitive 3 and 4 years ago. No one expects deep NCAA runs every year, but good lord, Stoney Brook?

I said it before and will say it again...frank has taken the program as far as he can take it. WHEN he coaches his x's and o's are above avg. but his demeanor on the court has turn recruits off. Without talent x and o is extremely limited.

If we want our basketball program to truly improve, we need to start paying recruits competitive rates, we need to ditch Under Armour, and Frank needs to chill out and stop trying to teach life lessons in the middle of games.
Then we might stop filling our roster with project players, grad transfers, and Eastern Europeans (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

We got to a Final Four. I'll wake up in another 40 years when we make another Sweet 16.

We just aren’t talented.
Young doesn’t matter anymore. Especially now when you got schools being led by freshmen and sophomores
We got lucky to hit on PJ and Sin our final four year, we need those guys again.
Basketball has changed young guys dominate the game.
And before people say “but look at Villanova!”
The team in the final was lead by a Sophomore and one of their other top players was a freshman (drafted in the first round this year)

You're correct about the talent. Frank cannot recruit and didn't capitalize on the lightening in the bottle final four run. His supportes say " he gets players for his system " and the fact is just a poor recruiter and unless that changes our program will never improve.

It’s all complete bull shite and i agree with you.
Both major sports, the best teams have freshmen that make significant marks on day one.
Bama, Georgia, Clemson, OU, Ohio state in football.
Duke Kentucky Nova UNC in hoops.
You’ll occasionally have a “senior team” make a run. But realistically it ain’t the same anymore. Look at clowney that guy could have been a first round pick out of
HS. Look at Myles Garrett, same thing. These kids are getting scary good

High school programs have amped up their programs in the last 20 years. The S&C programs , in high school, are night and day from when I attended. Kids come out ready to play in college and to sit them is a waste.
The small state of SC has had numerous elite players that our flagship university has ignored or couldn't land. Ray Allen, Xavier McDaniel and Tyrone Corbin are just a few. Frank has continued but now we aren't just losing our best players to the bluebloods but to bama and ut.
In basketball the jimmy and joes are even more important than in football. I don't care how good of a game day coach Frank is because his talent on the court sucks. We have a 6'11" kostar that can't make a layup and has a vertical of 1". He hasn't made any improvement since his freshman year and that's because he has already reached his talent ability.

Ray Allen,
Did Jermaine O'Neal have any intention of playing college ball? Imagine having Allen and O'Neal added to those stellar '90s teams under Fogler.

Jermaine could not get into USC even if he had wanted to. His grades would have never allowed it. He knew before his senior season that pro ball was where he was going after school.

Imagine if we would have had the x-man and corbin at USC. They grew up minutes from the arena.

You hear that with a lot of guys back in the day. (Jermaine Oneal, Shawn Kemp, JR Smith are some I remember hearing "had to go pro")
Now days they've definitely decreased the standards I feel though because of what was happening and the new one and done rule. (well they def will for a guy thats a top 5 recruit)

They don't call him Reign Man for nothing.
But also I remember going to a Hawks game as a youngn' guy was on Orlando and just so fat and out of shape.
I was very young so I don't remember everything, but a fan was basically telling my dad and I he was only playing because he had so much child support to pay.

So over on Cockytalk I'm currently having a debate with a poster that hates Muschamp and states the football program is worse off than it was but he fully supports Frank because of the final four run.
