The guy wins them a title (with Calhoun's guys I'll give him that) and just completely fricked over the program.

Meanwhile Frank has been here how long? and can't build a solid base after the final 4?

Frank's defensive approach is only good if you can keep players in the program (like Michigan and UVA do)

I feel like we don't do that often. How many people are left from Kotsar and Silva's class?

Basically that he improved the schedue but it was sad that there were more uva fans then us and he wants a better homecourt advantage. I will say that your post on the basketball situation has been very thought provoking and gives , us older posters, a valid insight into the younger generation minds. Kudos mate!

I think the split in the fans is due to the argument of supply/demand ( if a better product was supplied than the demand to see them would increase) versus the " fans should go support and cheer for the team no matter what". I've been seeing some fans, that are in the latter crowd, start to not want to be there and some of their argument is built around Franks yelling and attitude toward the players. They are tired of losing and hearing Frank constantly yell and deride the players.

Which one of my thoughts?

I don't remember Dawn going public about lack of fans. She built her team and the fans came. Frank should be selling his vision and what he can do for the kids future not bitching and moaning about fans. I really wonder if he did that so he can use it down the road to leave

Frank refuses to recruit guys who aren't hard-nosed defenders, IMO. At some point, that needs to change. We need guys who can shoot and guys who can create. We haven't had that over the past two seasons.

UVA plays great D, and those two white guys shot the eyes out of it from deep. The two aren't mutually exclusive. You can get guys who are good defenders that can also play offense. We can't seem to find those. Frustrates the hell out of me.

Kids don't wanna play for him because he stinks. And his style of play isn't "sexy"

Coach K, Bob Huggins, Gregg Marshall, Tom Izzo, Mark Turgeron, Jim Boheim, Brad Underwood all yell. No one cares though because they win.

Frank has one Tourney in his 7 years here and a losing record in the SEC.
Other than the 2 years he's finsihed tied for the 3rd in the SEC, he hasn't finsihed above 11th (and this year is not looking good)

Frank's style of coaching "preach defense first" isn't what works because A) we can't shoot to save our lives B) we can't develop anyone.

How many guys have we had stay all 4 years under him? (i'll count PJ as one because he woulda stayed had he not bolted for the NBA)
I think his system COULD work... if kids stayed. but they don't. Freshman that can't shoot or score need to develop. Freshman like the guys Duke have are already elite developed offensive talents (will be starters in the NBA before they are 20). We don't have any guys even close to them, even Seniors. frick even our best senior Sin thornwell wasn't close at 21.


He needs to change his philosophy. Working harder than the other team isn't going to win when you stink.
We played and worked very hard vs UVA, but we were not better than them, that's why we lost.

He made a comment a few years back that recruiting guys who understood his defensive philosophy was more important than recruiting guys who were flashy and could shoot/score. The comment was in reference to Mike Carerra, the quintessential CFM player.

Our offense is stale. Teams know they can just pack it in, because our guys suck at ball movement, and they suck at shooting. It is tough to watch for me. Without a Thornwell/Dozier type who can get to the rim, we don't stand a chance. I think Bryant and Lawson both have a ton of potential, but beyond that, nobody impresses me in the least. Not even Silva.
