Begins with the late John Ward...Larry Munson was a drunk who threw up all over himself...Stan Torgenson was a fat joke...John Ferguson sounded like he had his head in a bucket...Eli Gold is a stinking Bama homer and totally unprofessional...Jack Cristal was a gem although his voice was like scratching on a blackboard . Cawood Ledford was a great basketball announcer but way too mundane when it came to football.

Guy came from old school radio in an age before pictures. He had to paint a canvas with just his voice and his mind. Maybe Vin Scully after him but still did not use the same visual brush.

You Vol fans are worse than GA Tech fans. Larry Munson was one of the greatest radio announcers ever. So GFYS with your redneck, backwoods, inbred shite.

Verne Lundquist
Just kidding. He sucks. Nessler is way better.

Correct ..and then there’s numerous announcers who were much better.
John Ward. ...”he’s at the 10.................the 9................the 8...............the 7.........
(Tennessee has kicked off)..........the 6............the 5............the 4.......(the opponent has just scored)...........the 3........the 2.........the 1...........what ......did......he........do?......give .....him......six.......(halftime)...

You were right about Jack Cristil being a Gem. He was awesome. At least I agree with 10% of your post.

Shut your whore mouth. Jack Cristal was a legend. And he was often way more critical of his team’s performance than he was happy about it. Those 2 homer fricks at Auburn should have to listen to Jack broadcasts to learn how to be a true professional in broadcasting.

I miss Ron Franklin calling those big SEC matchups on ESPN so much.

I love being able to watch every game that's played on a 75-inch screen.
But there was something magical about those old radio broadcasts... although I was just a small child..... here's to John Forney and Doug Layton... may they both RIP

Caywood was the best PbP guy I remember simply because you could follow the game on radio and picture it in your head. Never listened to him much for football however as it was not necessary at the time...

Is the just SEC? Myron Cope of the Pittsburgh Steelers was a pure legend.
Actually said GD on air.
