Here are some very winnable games against power 5 opponents that SEC teams could be scheduling instead of games like last night's garbage. I know an Sec schedule is brutal, but anyone in this conference should be able to beat any of those teams fairly easily and not be too beat up. People gripe about attendance, but the product is not very good. No one wants to drive hundreds of miles to their respective schools to watch their team beat up on south carolina state.

-Northwestern
-Kansas
-Iowa State
-Indiana
-Purdue
-NC State
-Duke
-Southern Miss
-New Mexico
-Utah State
-BYU
-Colorado State
-Colorado
-Baylor
-Kansas State
-Rutgers
-Virginia
-North Carolina
-Syracuse
-Pitt
-Louisiana Tech
-Wyoming
-Oregon State
-Washington State
-Nevada
-Arizona
-Cinncinnati
-Minnesota
-Maryland
-South Florida
-Texas Tech
-Oklahoma State

To schedule a game, both teams have to want to participate. Why would the teams you list want to schedule a murderer's row OOC slate every season?

This is a great reason to never start your season on a Thursday night if it isn't against a marquee opponent. If aTm had played that game at 3:30 on Saturday, no one would give a shite.

It’s pretty simple, these FCS schools NEED the money. Add one guy to every teams schedule and require or give them the option to play one FCS game to start the season like a pre/season game. Record still counts, but this also supports all FCS departments and allows teams to get a warm up in and brings in more game day revenue for schools.

It’s almost like someone already created a thread about this

Until games like the Music Schitti Bowl and other "post season" embarrassments go away, major college football will be an impure product. Expand the playoff to 16 teams and that could happen. Only when P5 teams play only P5 teams will it be worth the increasing costs of each game.

As fans, all we can do is to boycott the ridiculous matchups with all FCS schools and most G5 teams. We don't currently have a say in the matter.

Most of those teams -

1. Are trying like hell to make a bowl, and scheduling Georgia or Alabama et al doesn't help them reach that goal.

2. Don't want to give up a home game for a home/home or neutral site game, because they need every scrap of athletic revenue they can get. Most schools aren't rolling in money like the SEC schools.

When UGA's Greg McGarity calls up Iowa State, Iowa State says "thanks, but no thanks."

It's not like all those schools are beating down Bama and Auburn and UGA (et al)'s doors, blowing up their phones, to schedule us.

I have a question about perspective here.

Why do we focus on the worst of 4 OOC games?
If you are trying to strengthen your OOC scheduling, a more practical and effective focus would be to make your hardest OOC game tougher. And make your 2nd hardest OOC game tougher.

There will always be a worst team on you schedule. But maybe focus on improving the two toughest OOC matchups first before you start casting stones at the 12th toughest game on the schedule.

I agree now your team first. No school is going to put themselves at a disadvantage first. This is going to take some kind of NCAA rule intervention. (I nearly threw up typing that)

Several teams on your list don't qualify as "cupcake", most notably OK State

I don't think scheduling somebody like Northwestern would be a good idea the week before you play the preseason #2.

I doubt many of those teams want a home and home.

A P5 scheduling FCS should be done away with, yes, but there's nothing wrong with scheduling a G5 school. I find some of those matchups entertaining, and many of the G5 programs are just as strong as the lower P5 programs.

Why do you guys bitch so much about these games? The teams you listed would almost all want a home and home. These games are not that bad. It's fun to watch your team score 50. That doesn't happen every week
