We all knew this going in. That is why I have in my crystal ball that we are staring at an 8-4 season. It is just a very tough schedule. I would love nothing more than to be wrong. It is what it is.

I have been on conference realignment for years. The east has never been dominate, even in the 90s. It is unacceptable Bama gets a rent a win with UT every year.
ETA:
I personally thought JJ did well with coaching hires, but I felt he could have been a better advocate for AU within the SEC. The old guard (and this is in every industry) just hates to rustle jimmies, and will toe the company line.

9-3 will be a successful year, especially if we win the bowl game to get to 10 wins.

Of course we all hope for the CFP and SECC, but I’ll take Gus getting us back to back 10 win seasons which hasn’t been done in a long time.

Here are my thoughts:
IF we win vs Washington, we comin.
UT, Texas A&M, Arkansas all have new coaches - wins.
Ole Miss is a win.
LSU is going to get payback for last year.
Miss State was throttled by us and they have a new coach. win.
Georgia and bammer will be very difficult, but if we enter that phase undefeated, with a Kevin Steele defense and QB8........ we comin.

I just want to get through the year without losing a game strictly due to poor coaching.

Can someone tell me the last time we started a season preseason top 10 and finished in the top 10?
Or maybe I can do the research....
2015
Preseason #6
Postseason unranked
2014
Preseason #6
Postseason #22
2008
Preseason #10
Postseason unranked
2006
Preseason #4
Postseason #9
(+1)
2003
Preseason #6
Postseason #19
1995
Preseason #6
Postseason #22
1990
Preseason #3
Postseason #19
Multiple top ten preseason rankings in the 80s that finished with postseason top ten rankings. But since 1990, we've fallen hard when preseason expectations were high every time except 2006.
*1994 we started the season #11 and finished #9. Doesn't count in the top ten history but at least we started high and finished high.

I'll live with 9-3 this year if the losses are to UDub, Bama and UGa - teams currently ranked ahead of us - provided we played a good game and just got beaten.
I won't like it, but I'd live with it.

That’s just not reality... if we lose?... coaches didn’t have us ready to play.... inexperienced OL?... Gus shouldn’t have hire herb hand... RB fumble?... Gus didn’t recruit elite RB.
Bottom line... it all falls on the head coach.

Heaven forbid that UW or someone else just had a great team and played a hell of a game

I won't burn the place down if we don't make it to the CFP, but with our talent, dammit it's time. I been thinking about how we get there, with this schedule. If we lose to UW, we have to at least split Ala and UGA. And, as bad as I hate losing to UGA, the win had better come in Tuscaloosa. I don't think the CFP takes us as a two loss team, unless we win the SECCG. And the road to Atlanta runs through West Vance.
Now, if we beat UW, I think we can split Ala/UGA and lose either game, as we saw with Ala last year.

If we lose to the U-dub in Atlanta for god’s sake with the best defense we’ve possibly put out in the last 10-12 years with our best passing quarterback since (I don’t even know) then we are in pitiful shape. All signs point up. Offensive Line don’t let me down.
