Can’t believe State’s own Rocky Felker hasn’t been mentioned. From 1986-1990, he had an overall record of 21-34 which isn’t terrible, but his SEC record was 5-28. He also led the “Tech and 10” season of 1988. His tenure was comparable to Croom.

Curley is the worst coach in LSU history. Rice and Colorado State pounded LSU during those years.

cannot believe Doug Barfield (the barn) hasn't been mentioned - his last year the barn went 0-for in the SEC.

Jack Crowe at Arkansas deserves a mention

9-15, lost to the Citadel and was fired in September

You know you are really bad when you don't last long enough to lose 20 games (with a losing record of course)

Only one coach led a team protest that nearly shutdown an entire university.

I'd love to count Mike Price but it just wouldn't be fair to coaches who have coached a game and put forth the effort for this honor.

So... I nominate O. Just the coaching job he did at Ole Miss was legendary. Give credit where credit is due.

Whitworth will never be passed here. Winning 4 games in 3 years .....at Alabama? With Bart Starr? Damn, u had to TRY to lose to be that abysmal.
Bryant took those players and won a national title 2 years later.

Fred Pancoast Vandy 1976-1979. I don't think he won a conference game in 4 seasons.

1. JB Whitworth at Alabama

By record and expectations, he had the worst career or tenure (whatever you want to call it). He won 4 conference games in 3 seasons at Alabama who, even then, had been a dominant program under Wallace Wade. He burned everything down and Bryant had to resurrect it. He wins the worst tenure award.

Ray Goff at UGA...He was the worst in my lifetime, only because I wasn't born during the Johnny Griffith years.

Mizzou 1985 Woody Widenhofer
4 years went 12-31-1 no bowl games
set up the lost decade of Mizzou football.

He then went to Vanderbilt where he went 15-40 in a 5 year span.

Mizzou followed up the Widenhofer fire with another filed hire in Bob Stull.

In 5 years went 15-38-2.

Charles Shira at MSU

He was before my time, but he is probably the worst MSU coach, at least total record-wise, with a record of 16-45-2 over 6 seasons with a total of 5 SEC wins. If you take out Felker's 6-1 hot start to the 1986 season, his tenure was the worst. He had only 5 SEC wins in 5 seasons with 2 of those coming in the first 7 games of his tenure.

Add for Mizzou:

Woody Widenhofer 12-31-1
Bob Stull 15-38-2
