Why are there no neutral sites played in California?

It seems like an opportunity to get in and expose west coast kids to SEC football is being missed here. Neutral sites are inevitable, so playing in Cali seems like a good idea.

The turnout would be shite.

I will send a strongly worded email to the SEC Commish to have the annual UGA/UT game moved to san diego. I'll keep you updated.

Believe it or not, CFB isn't as popular outside the SE. Because of this, it would be better to play marquee games where the majority of CFB fans live.

Two big reasons, off the top of my head:
(a) For any SEC team playing a west coast team, it hardly seems like any California site could be considered neutral.
(b) The left coast is an expensive as heck trip for one game/poor ROI

what stadium?
All I can think of as a stadium that isn't used by a college team to be a neutral site is the 49ers in Santa Clara.
The other stadiums in Cali are already used for Bowl Games or shitty pro stadiums (Currently where the Chargers and Raiders play)

I disagree. I think it might not be AS big in other places but it’s definitely big still. It’s pretty big in big10 country. A game between LSU and Oregon at Levi’s Stadium would have a good turnout I think.

The New stadium for the Niners. That’s where the national championship is this year.

When AU played at the Rose Bowl vs FSU I sat next to a bunch of locals and they said the SEC games there were far different than the usual.

I've lived in Upper Central Lower Alabama, Baton Rouge, and now Cali. I can tell you that there is literally no game on the PAC12 schedule that I can't get a box office ticket to the day before a game, to see any team at any venue after week 3. People here simply do NOT care about college football (or NFL either, truth be told).

Because getting a passport is a hassle.

Already have a number of Bowl games there, and I read they do or have done "neutral" pac 12 games there in the passed.
Wouldn't be opposed to it, could def see a game in the New LA Stadium.
I mean they normally do a neutral site game for a team like ND or Penn State up here at Metlife stadium.

Have you ever seen what the crowd looks like at the PAC 12 title game? If they can't get 40,000 fans to watch the two best teams in the West square off, how are they going to get anymore than that with lesser teams?

Cali is a weird state for sports
Not like they are great team but was out in San Diego last year. Basically on the field for a padres game for less than 100 bucks.

This and the time zones make it less appealing

The teams in the championship game aren't the two best teams in the conference.

In what stadium? All the Stadiums there suck. Even the new 49ers one does. Do you really want to play a neutral site game in Oakland?

Current neutral site obviously cover travel along with payouts to each team...not an issue.A bigger factor is finding a corporate sponser.CFA spends millions on CFB every year and not sure if west coast/silicon Valley corporations care that much about CFB.
