It's a valid question.
No Destiny, no Shula.
No Shula, no Saban.
Price might have had more success and bought more time.

No........ Nick not trusting Dr. James Andrew's opinion of Drew Brees shoulder surgery and rehab, and Sean Payton trusting it completely, is why he's at Bama.

He took a paycut. The Dolphins were paying him more than the original $4MM we doled out.

right....except....

"We thought Drew Brees was an outstanding player, and that's who we made the first offer to," Saban said, via the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "Quite frankly, you know, he didn't pass the physical with our organization, so we had to go in another direction and there was nothing any of us could do about that."

Exactly what I posted. He didn't trust Dr. Andrews when he said that Drew's shoulder was going to heal stronger than before the surgery. At that point in the off season and free agency, Drew couldn't throw a football further than 20 yards. That's a fact. Drew couldn't pass a high school physical at that point.
But...... Dr. Andrews said that within a few months, Drew's shoulder would be stronger than ever. Payton trusted Dr. Andrews and offered 5 years at $10 million a year. Nick and the Dolphins wouldn't offer even though the Dolphins was Drew's first choice.
Nick signed Culpepper and Sean signed Brees. The rest is history.

He was a miserable failure in the NFL as a HC.
Obviously smart enough to figure it out in a “short” period of time.
So he quit.

Huh? I mean, I give zero fricks how he did in the NFL, but he was just shy of 500, which is pretty good in Miami. You seem like an enormous bitch. Don't be an enormous bitch.

He was ok in the NFL.
Saban is a solid coach. Better than most but not great.
He excels in recruiting and getting college players to buy in and perform at a high standard in college.
He would have built a winner in Miami, but a winner defined as above average playoff team most years, probably no superbowls but respectable.
He belongs in college. His wife realized that, made the decision for him and we have all seen the results.
When bama hired him I told my best bama friend grand slam bama, frick you, congrats.
When he signed Julio, I said the same to him as that was the game changer early on.

Of course he would have. But it’s miami. None of these foreigners give a frick about football. Empty stadiums in every sport except for soccer. He probably found that out a couple of days after moving.
