Yep. Even thought any other player for any other team would be suspended for two according to the rules....hence my comment.

It's pretty obvious you guys are completely missing the irony of your posts, and will not even attempt to approach this from a reasonable standpoint. All you can do is say it is fair for Alabama, but LSU players should be given a pass.

He never failed the test. He tampered with a test. Both have a penalty of a one-year suspension.
He was guilty of only one of those violations, so it should be a year.
I'm not sure why this is such a difficult concept to grasp. Did you just not read anything about it?

He tampered with the test because he knew he would fail it. Do you actually think he would tamper with the test if he thought he would pass the test.

He though that it tested for cannabis when it did not. Last time I checked, thinking you will fail a test is not the same as failing.

What do you not understand. He tampered with the test because he knew he would fail it regardless of whatever he thought it tested for. It is pretty simple to understand. He was trying to CHEAT the system and got caught.

You can't fail a test for something it doesn't test for.
He thought he would fail for cannabis. The test did not test for cannabis. It tested for PEDs which were not in his system for any test. Therefore, he never failed a test and should not be given the penalty for such.

Possibly get the suspension shortened, just like any other teams
Players could or would do in a similar situation. If the NCAA
Agrees then it will be shortened and if not he will sit out two years
as directed. Are you trying to say UGA players don't try to
appeal suspensions or get penalties shortened? I seem to remember several examples in just the Last 5 years. And more power to them for pursuing the legal options
they were afforded by the NCAA.

How do you know what he thought the test was far? If he is too clueless to know what he is being tested for well...I will leave it at that.
I also think LSU should suspend him for what he did or tired to do.

As a Tigers fan, I want to get him back eligible, and won't try to deny or make excuses about that. I want my team to win.

The penalty for one failed test for PEDs is one year. If tampering with the test isn't more severe than the failed test itself, players would have no reason not to tamper with the test. The penalty is to deter players from trying to cheat the system.

He should be suspended, and severely, for tampering with the test.
Smoking weed is pretty common among some cultural groups, and there's a lot of popular support to legalize it for recreational usage.
Intentionally falsifying official documents and/or tampering with evidence... that's a different issue.
And yes, it's also acceptable in certain cultural groups. But while there's overlap, it's not the same group as above.

Idk if I feel bad for him or if he’s getting what he deserves. I guess you play dumb games you win dumb prizes, but that’s a stiff penalty.

I like the line of logic that penalties for tampering with the tests should be much stiffer than the penalty for failing the test. Just fail the test and take your punishment.
