Comments/Notes

- I am using the common/modern drafts for each sport that are still in use today (for instance, MLB's started in 1965... if they had a draft prior to that, I don't know about it).

- The SEC #1 Overall Triple Crown Winner? LSU.

- Next closest to joining the SEC Triple Crown Club? Oddly enough, Kentucky and Vanderbilt! (Vandy needs a #1 overall in the NBA and Kentucky needs one in MLB.)

- Total overall #1's for each school - LSU (5), Auburn (4), UGA (4), Kentucky (4), Vanderbilt (3), Tennessee (2), Bama (1), Ole Miss (1), South Carolina (1), Texas A&M (1), Arkansas (0), Florida (0), Mississippi State (0), Missouri (0)

- Common wisdom from this year's baseball talent scouts is that Auburn's Casey Mize is the odds-on favorite to be the overall #1 in the upcoming MLB draft. If/when that happens, Auburn will join Kentucky and Vandy as Triple Crown 1st runners-up behind LSU. And will also then equal LSU in overall #1's selected.

- No, #1 choices made while in the SWC, ACC, Indpendent, etc. do not count.

- LSU's two #1 overall picks from the NFL draft sure are... interesting.

- Holy shite, Florida? What the hell? ZERO?

- How in the hell has Bama not had a #1 overall choice in the NFL draft since 1948?

- How did Kentucky manage to not have a #1 overall choice in the NBA draft until 2010?

- How in the world did the SEC not have a #1 overall choice in the MLB draft until 1989?

- From an Auburn standpoint, at least until Casey Mize is (hopefully) picked, Auburn's next highest choices are, in baseball, Frank Thomas (#7 overall in the 1989 MLB draft) and, in basketball, Chuck "Crooked" Person (#4 overall in the 1986 NBA Draft) and Chris Morris (#4 overall in the 1988 NBA Draft). The six players selected in the 1989 MLB Draft ahead of Frank Thomas all turned out to be JAGs (including LSU's Ben McDonald) while Thomas had a Hall of Fame career. And, if you are curious, Charles Barkley was selected 5th overall in the 1984 NBA Draft.

- Feel free to add your school's highest picks in the three professional drafts below.

Fun fact.

Ole Miss is the only school to have a quarterback selected first and last overall in the draft

We had a baseball player go first in '86. Florida, MO, and State only ones with zero.

If we went by your rules, South Carolina would double their total.

And then where would we be, I ask you?

I'll tell you...

CHAOS

That's where we'd be.

2 downvotes and counting for a simple post listing historical facts and information.

Piling it on on Florida isn't something I do daily but the Gators with zero is where we'd still be.

This board lost its love of historical discussions not involving troll jobs and emojis circa 2010-2012.
