Leave it to a UGA fan to live in the past (37 years and counting). Both those AU teams had dynamic QBs and that was the difference. It was the same for UF with Tebow. College Football has become a QB league just like the NFL, but few teams in the SEC had elite QBs. Remember the UGA fans wants to be called RBU, but they do not have any NC to show for it in 37 years.
Hey simpleton. Newton, Tebow, Martin... those are running QBs.
The best running teams win. Sometimes, it is with a pocket qb. Sometimes, it is with a running qb. But the foundation of this conference will always be that the best running offense and best running defense will always be the best team.
Auburns 2017 offense only had 1 running threat and it cost you after the season was over. That and your defense wasn't as good away from the home field environment.
check out the home / road-neutral splits.

No, those were QBs who could run. Ark has some of the best RBs the league has seen and they have nothing to show for it. LSU has always had a running back, but the last 6-8 years the QB has cost them. OU proved that last year against you, that you can still be competitive with a bad D as long as you have a QB.

You are attempting Ludacrous Speed.
When a QB runs for 170+ attempts, he is a running QB. Any argument otherwise is an attempt at making a stupid comment to cover up for your earlier dumbass comment. Congratulations. You are either too proud to admit you are wrong or too stupid to comprehend the basics of football. Knowing you are an auburn fan, I will stick with the belief that you are too stupid because you can't focus on what is important with Bama and UGA constantly teabagging your team.

OU ran for 33 rushing touchdowns last season. Only 1 behind Auburn. That is a good running team. And for that, they earned a trip to the rose bowl. Defense was their weakness. Especially against the run. UGA beat Oklahoma with 300+ rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.
My point still stands.

It is FOS. Rushing TDs doesn’t tell the story, explain first how they were set up. UGA would have multiple championships the last 29 years if it depended on the running game . What do they have to show for it? Nothing, but we all know they are RBU.
Bama has been able to do it with superior talent, but every game they have lost during this run was against a better than average QBs.

It does, actually.
In the SEC, chart the number of rushing TDs for the champion each year. It is obviously the winning ingredient (auburn fans are too stupid to even recognize their own successes in the conference... typical).
There is another side of the ball, though. And in the same vein, stopping the rushing TD is important.
Great teams do both.

The key to winning in this league is controlling the LOS on both sides of the ball. Everything else generally falls into place if you can do that. But yes, you have to be able to run the ball in this league to win. There has yet to be a conference champion that didn’t have a good, mostly great, running game. Plenty of teams in this league won NCs with average QB play: Tennessee 1998, LSU 2003, Florida 2006, LSU 2007, Alabama 2009, Alabama 2015. That’s not to say these teams had bad QBs but they didn’t have QBs that carried their teams either. What all these teams had in common were good lines on both sides of the ball, strong running games, and good defenses.

We are on the same wavelength.
Many teams may have great rushing stats on 1st down.
Many teams may be able to run the football in between the 20s.
That is how football is played when a defense respects the run/pass opportunity. You can run the football well with a talented tailback. Or good OL.
However if you flip that to a goalline package or 3rd and 1 situation... the quality of the OL (or DL) and ability to win the line of scrimmage is telling. That running back who is money for 5 yards on first down might be bad to awful in the red zone. That 1 yard might as well be 10 when the defense can clog the lanes with bodies and limit the amount of real estate to work with.
That is why rushing TDs is the metric and not yards per game or yards per attempt. You win games by scoring points. And you will have fewer mistakes by keeping it on the ground.
It is the way this conference is and may always be.

I believe there will be a drop off in RB production this year. Not a knock on the guys you currently have on the roster but a testament to how good Chubb & Michel were.
It's possible and reasonable to say this.
People are forgetting that we still have excellent RB's left in Swift, Holyfield, Herrien, White and Cook.
Add to that, that our OLine should improve even more from last year as we return 4 of 5 starters, with a couple of 5* that were redshirted ready to play as well as a couple of 5* freshmen competing for starting time.
We fully expect to throw the ball more, and with a sophomore QB with experience leading us and a 5* QB backup getting reps, not to mention almost our entire WR corps returning....well....our offense is not an area we are worried about.
A drop off in our running game> probably. But it will certainly be off set by an uptick in our passing game. Expect a much more balanced offense this year.

Sure you can. Aubun has been doing it for years:

One run doesn't prove anything. At that point AU had three Starters injured with two of them being LBs.
Joker rushed for 700 yards as a freshman in that stacked backfield we had.

Nah, he's trash. He only had one good run.

Yes, you have to be able to rush the ball, but it is now a QB League (same as the NFL). You can win games with a strong rushing game, but it will not take you to the next level. Last year is a good example, Bama could run the ball, but they would not have won the NC on Hurts arm (even with their talent). UGA lost two games to SECW teams when they took away the run game. LSU was as good as anyone running the ball.
You can not win big with just a good QB, you need a good Defense (see AU 2014). But it is a QB league now.

You can cry all you want, but it doesn't change anything. I must have really hit a sore spot when you have to go back to 2001 to find examples.

What SEC QBs carried their team in 2017?
2017 SEC QBs
How about 2016?
2016 SEC QBs
Or does this QB driven league start in 2018. From this point forward? As if every idea that you have ever had about football is bogus, but there is a chance that you are on the cutting edge of changes within this conference moving forward.
Auburn fans are always good for a chuckle. They haven't earned the moniker Backup U for nothing.

2017-Stidham to the SECW, Tua to the NC. Even with all Bama's talent they would not have won without him. QBs prevented LSU, UF and A&M from contending. It also make MSU at least an average team. Lock made Missouri competitive.
2016-There wasn't a decent QB in 16 and it showed on the field. It validates everything I have been saying. It took a good QB to overcome Bama's talent to win the NC. If you can not see that then you are the biggest idiot UGA fan or just lying to yourself.
