Once upon the time, the Saints drafted a kicker in the first round. Russell Erxleben from Texas if memory serves. He wound up punting exclusively.

Jamaal Anderson would probably be on there before Matt Jones. Jones was actually turning into a decent WR before he snorted himself out of the league. All the talent in the world, just didn't care about football.

I would almost say Quentin Coryatt was a bigger bust than Manziel for A&M.
He was drafted #2 overall and recorded only 459 combined tackles, 8.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 7 fumble recoveries and 3 interceptions over 82 games.

Sherrod broke his leg during the 2011 season, his rookie year, in one of those accidents where a guy falls on the legs of a lineman while he is blocking. He never recovered enough to be able to play the game. He was grading out very well before the injury.
This is a meaningless article. Shame on Sherrod for braking his leg...he should have been better than that. Sports journalism went the way of the dodo bird.

For UK I think you could make an argument for Tim Couch too. 1st overall and never really lived up to it.

Wow, talk about a bad turn of events
Saw that as well, brutal. Was telling some young CFB fans about him the other day.

Nope. Bo was absolutely the worst 1st round AU draft pick. He was also the greatest 7th round draft pick ever from AU.

Richardson should be over Homan because the Browns traded up to get him and then the Colts traded away a first round pick to get him.

This is pretty much spot on. Homan was a can't miss number one prospect who held many Bama records until Freddie milons came along. He did have snake stabler throwing to him in college and not Don Meredith.
I'd also add
Keith mccants
John Copeland
Eric curry
Scott Hunter
Antonio langham
Wilbur Jackson
Pat trammell would have been a great pro. Turned down the pros to go to med school and died of testicular cancer at 28.

And people thought he would be Moss' replacement in MN after they shipped him off of to Oakland.

For Mizzou I was thinking John Clay, 15th pick at Tackle by Raiders, played 2 seasons and done

How is this not Trent Richardson?

Auburn LB Aundray Bruce
The particulars: Drafted 1st overall in 1988 by the Atlanta Falcons The skinny: He was an excellent athlete who started for the Falcons in his first two seasons. But to say he lacked football instincts would be kind, and though he had an 11-season career, he was a reserve for the final nine seasons and finished with 32 sacks (12 of those came in his first two seasons). Bruce, who started just 41 games in his career, didn’t have 40 tackles in any of his final nine seasons. He was barely a journeyman

JFF was the best QB the Browns have had in some time.
Unfortunately, I think the answer is Reggie Brown (only looking at 1990 and onward). Brown had a spine injury in his second year which ended his career. He almost died on the field.

He fell off quickly but was solid for the first few years.

True enigma. How many other white QBs get switched to WR in the NFL and actually do well? Besides Edelman

Played for the Lions? I remember that, first time I had seen a player carted off the field like that.
