Always love Rick...He sold his soul for Renardo Sidney. For some reason Sidney fooled many and Rick was one of them. If not for him, Rick would still be in Starkville.

Nothing but love for Stans.
We kid about it, but WKU is a team that should in the NCAAs. Beat Purdue, lost to #1 Villanova by 8 on a neutral floor.
My only regret regarding Stansbury was all the blowhards who screeched and demanded that he HAD to go and get Renardo Sydney. They all slinked away and left Rick looking like the jackass when it blew up. Well, that and the water park he and Meo built at Oktibbeha Lake

It was time for Rick to go. The move will probably work out best for both parties.
Rick had gotten VERY lazy at MSU in his last few years. He seems to have more energy now that he is back in coaching.
MSU dropped the ball on the Rick Ray hire, but Howland is definitely building the program back up.

Louisville should take a look at Stansbury.

Did you know that Renardo Sidney plays for the Compton Airmen now?

Yep. This WKU team is the kind of squad that a hungry Stansbury used to put together in Starkville. The Coleby guy is a beast. Stans got him from OleMiss and Kansas. He has the 2017 Kentucky state Player of the Year, playing with an obviously huge chip on his shoulder. They are a damn good team

Could care less. Stans recruited mostly head cases so I am sure he still does, then proceeds to let them run the program. Players may have been good but a lot of cancers too. Imagine a team full of Nkimdechees.

Is nothing more than a fat piece of amphibian shite. He tanked our program, not Stansbury.

He did not start off that way, things started heading off the rails with Jamont Gordon, Sidney was just the 100 car pile up at the end.
Rick was great coaching up guys and running a solid program based on defense and hard work, he was out of his depth in his later years and the attempts at a offense minded squad.

Nonsense. Renardo was a POS, but Stansbury was the adult and in charge and getting paid a boatload of money to make sure that things stayed on track. Towards the end he was running a special ed daycare that simply drove other SEC coaches nuts.

Why do say he was lazy the last few years at State
I think he was a bit frustrated towards the end because we could not seem to get over the hump with a deep run in the NCAA tourney. That clouded his vision and ours as well when he gambled on Sidney. I remember Rick Cleveland writing a column about Sidney's recruitment back in 2009 or 10. He basically said that the gamble would pay off big for Stans or it would be the end of Stans at State (no in between).
But to generally say he was lazy with nothing to support it, I would think is very inaccurate. I mean in 2009, we won the SECT and went to the NCAA, in 2010 we got robbed by the officials in the SECT final against or otherwise we are in again. 2010-11 was a struggle (17-14 - 9-9 SEC), that was the year of the infamous fight that included who else? (Sidney). Then the wrong player (Elgin Baylor left the team. hint he should have stayed and Sidney should have hit the road) 2011-12 team started 19-5 and then fell apart to end the season and that was the end.
Disappointing at the end but I don't think it was because Stans was lazy. Other factors involved but it was about 99.9% on Sidney.

Nonsense? In hindsight, everyone believes that Stansbury should’ve kicked Sidney off the team, but he didn’t and that cancer rotted the team. Stansbury had a very good 10 yr stretch at State and it was overwhelming pressure from our fan base that drove Stans to make it work with Sidney. frick Sidney. Good luck Stansbury.

Ben Howland > Stans
He had a good run at State but we are on track with Howland and will be a top SEC team next year as we return everybody and bring in a McDonalds AA and 4 star MS Player of the year.

I said that and we hired Rick Ray, and we all know how that turned out.

Sidney, I have never disliked any player more than him. What a waste of talent and embrassed the hell out of us on national TV.
