Pretty bold to have a Clemson team without their best player making it to the Sweet 16

They're more likely to lose RD1 than Auburn is

Like most of the conference, he's just not well-versed on the intricacies of college basketball. Hopefully now that the SEC is a basketball conference they will catch up to Auburn and UK fans.

Anyone have that pic of Thamel looking like someone pissed in his Cheerios at the BCS championship game?

That would be Thayer Evans.

Auburn is 4-5 in their last 9 including 1-3 in their last 4. They played their self out of a potential 1 seed over the last 3 weeks. Looking back they really only have 2 big wins and that seems more like a product of catching those teams when they were in a funk. They're undersized and not built for March. I said the same thing midseason.

That said I still have yall making it to the round of 32 and losing to USCe's Daddy.

Auburn took a huge hit with the injury to McLemore.

The Cam Newton deal really triggered Thamel. He was sure it was going to go down

Then of course when it didnt, Auburn fans found new love for him

Yes Thamel is a douche that is constantly triggered by Cam Newton but we arent the same team without McLemore. We have no margin for error and have been relegated to a team that can win if we shoot well and only if we shoot well.

Saying Auburn is tanking to end the season due to McLemore's injury and general fatigue is completely reasonable. So is saying they've got a low ceiling in the tournament due to those things and the general lack of size.

Trying to downplay Auburn being a pretty dominant force for 85% of the season is pure stupidity.

Yes

Barring a lights out game for CoC, a half decent effort by Auburn probably wins our first game. We can't play as poorly as we did against Bama or we'll lose.

To get beyond that, we'll likely need improved shooting from our last several games of the regular season. Which isn't impossible, but we've been waiting for our shooters to get hot and it just hasn't happened (Brown and Harper in particular will need to get out of their several week funk).

This doesn't count as persecution, dude. Every year, prognosticators pick out 4 and 5 seeds for upsets and Auburn is one of the most obvious choices. Not because they aren't good -- they are -- but because they overachiever this season. I suspect even most AUburn fans would concede they did. It's not an insult, it's a natural reason to make an upset pick in the NCAAs.

Also, Auburn being a bit undersized partially eliminated one of the more common advantages major schools tend to have over smaller ones.

I'd guess it is because he's had multiple AU athletics stories he felt would be big mover/shaker career definining type pieces end up blowing up in his face.

The first and smaller deal was his story on AU giving FB players fake classes/grades. Turns out it wasn't just athletes but many non athlete students making it an academic not athletic piece. Thamel got robbed of a big time sports piece and pushing it as a sports story got some criticism since he missed the actual story

Story 2 is the bigger deal. Thamel was one of the first and loudest to report on Cam Newton Saga. He found his career defining story and hyped it hard calling it The potential "most explosive" scandal in college sports history....

When your self proclaimed "most explosive" story is ripped out from under you as Cam/AU was cleared, that hurts. He saw his second major story on AU blowback in his face.

He could be and he is right about us right now. We are undersized and really not built for March. I have said that all season though I have really enjoyed what Auburn has accomplished

Loosing Mac was just the final nail in the coffin. I dont see us losing to CoC but I think we will struggle getting out of the second round..... I would love to have the confidence in them right now but I dont. They have pretty much crash landed and it will be tough to play over their heads moving forward

Great season though
