WR Arjei Henderson did de-commit from Oklahoma today. I wonder if that has anything to do with Jadon Haselwood?

Any scuttlebutt on us trying to add a punter in some form? I can't imagine us not addressing that in some form (preferred walk-on, blueshirt, etc) this cycle.

Will Reichard, our kicker commit, is supposed to be a pretty good punter too.

Iirc, Arjei Henderson is a risk of not qualifying.

If he can kick it 40-42 yds toe to catch, then he will be an upgrade

I don't think that's why they're bringing him in, but if he can do it that would be great. Having said that, according to an article earlier this year he was averaging 35.7 yards per punt. That's basically in line with what we got this year.

If we can't get someone on campus that can consistently kick it 40 yards with decent hang time, they may have to look into doing the rugby thing next year.

May have been posted so did not want to start a thread but I found this very interesting.

Scuttlebutt or not, a former teammate of mine has a son over at Meridian HS that is receiving a look. Don't know if anything will come of it though since it would likely be a PWO and not a full ride and because we are looking to fill needs at LB and DL. He currently ranks 4th nationally in HS punters.

Thanks for the insight, UAgrad93! Here's an article on Mr. Acton:

quote:

The son of former Alabama kicker Chad Acton, Nash Acton transferred from Lamar School to Meridian High School this past season, where the elder Acton works as an athletic trainer and kicking coach.

With his father supervising him, Nash Acton was hoping his skills as a kicker would improve. They did, to the point where Acton is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in Mississippi in average yards per punt on MaxPreps.com. Acton punted 49 times this past season for 2,394 yards, an average of 48.9 yards per punt.

I spoke with his dad Saturday at the game and he said that BAMA had been in contact. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Would he walk-on or is he looking for a full ride?

That is something I don't know. With our needs in other areas, I don't know if Saban would risk losing a much needed LB or DL. He may be able to take a blue shirt since he hasn't been "recruited". I guess he could take that route after some "roster management ".
