So who's gonna post the gif that points to Ole Miss being left out in the cold?

I'm technologically in the stone age, but frozen Jack Nicholson gets my vote.

Wonder how much the Big 10 received in revenu...they do have a better TV deal for established members and they also get the $27 million Orange Bowl payout.

When the conferences with NY6 bowl tie-ins are semi-finals, there is a drop in revenue for that year. When the Sugar Bowl isn't a semi-final, the SEC will get $27.5 million. Meaning for the 2016-2017, the SEC got $101 million total. In 2017-2018, it only got $70 million largely due to the Sugar being a semifinal.

But that doesn't mean they are all equal. The Rose Bowl pays out more($40 mil) than the Sugar and Orange($27.5 mil). The Cotton, Peach, and Fiesta only pay $4 mil, and the playoff only pays $6. Since the Orange is ACC vs highest ranked of ND/B1G/SEC, theoretically the B1G has the best chance of getting the most bowl revenue, but the SEC has a good avenue as well.

So the 2020 Playoff, when the base payout is $54 million, when the Peach and the Fiesta are the semi-finals, if the SEC gets a playoff slot, and goes to the final for an additional $2.125 and the Orange Bowl slot over the B1G/ND, and say the Cotton as well, given the Sugar is automatic, the Citrus pays $4.25, Outback pays $3.5, the Texas Bowl pays $3, the Music City pays $2.75, Gator pays $2.75, Belk pays $1.7, Liberty pays $1.4375...

54 + 6 + 2.125 + 27.5 + 27.5 + 4 + 4.25 + 3.5 + 3 + 2.75 + 2.75 + 1.7 + 1.4375 = $140.5125 million just in bowl payouts.

If the SEC doesn't go to the Orange or the Cotton, doesn't send someone to the playoff, and for some reason only has 8 bowl eligible teams and doesn't send anyone to the Birmingham or Independence we'll only get $100.8875 million in bowl payouts.

"The average distribution from the league does not include bowl revenue retained by participating schools, which totals $23.1 million."

Interested to see the '17/'18 numbers...should be a bigger bump for both SEC and Big 10.I believe that's when the new TV deal kicks in.

What was the difference this year in having 2 playoff teams, vs. filling all the bowl slots?

6 per playoff team, and no autobid to the Sugar either way, but actually if Ohio State got in instead of Bama, it would have been 8.125 mil less since Bama got the SEC 2.125 extra for beating Clemson, Bama goes to the Orange Bowl over Wisconsin, and Auburn at 7 still goes to the Fiesta/Cotton/Peach, earning the same payout.

So Bama making the playoff actually cost the SEC a little bit.
