Watched every game this year. Brown is the guy we turn to when we are in dire straights. I don't care what the metrics say, he is by far our best defender as well.

Harper-most valuable
Heron-most talented
Murray- toughest player
Mclemore- best inside guy
Okeke- instant offense
Brown- best overall

You left out the part where he won't cooperate with Auburn's own internal investigation. I wonder why?
Because he's smart. He knows to shut his trap to any "investigator" that can't produce an FBI badge. Self preservation 1st when the Feds are involved - employer 2nd.

He's a TERRIBLE rebounder, the worst on your team.

Brown is by far the best player on our team. I, too, am familiar with advanced basketball statistics. But I also actually watch the games. Advanced stats are way less valuable in college than they are in the NBA. Why? Brown has has had 2-3 horrible games that kill his efficiency stats in a short season. College seasons are much too small of a sample size to look only at efficiency based contribution metrics.

As for the rebounding, if you have ever watched a Bruce Pearl team play or understood his philosophy.. the 2 and 3 guards are supposed to be sprinting to the corner on the opposite end of the court in most defensive rebounding situations to get our secondary break going. Any defensive rebounds they get would be incidental or from not doing their job.

I never understood why people have this horrible/dirty image of Bruce when literally all he did was what I wrote above.

Because this is tRant and anything good is to be shite on...unless it's your own team.

This is simply false, sorry. He's a scorer and not bringing much else to the table outside of the intangibles. Some of your are confusing leadership/intangibles with actual on court production.

We will revisit this after he goes for 20+ and shuts down Waters tomorrow. He is the most valuable player on our team to anyone who has actually watched us play with Harper being a close 2nd.

Brown doesn't even excel at that. You looked at stats and extrapolated. Normally, you might be right, but this team doesn't fit the script you are using.

Brown is one of the best on ball defenders in the league. Great two-way player. There's a reason he gets 31 mpg on such a deep team.

Stats do not support this at all. When he playing, defense suffers.

You keep your stats and I'll keep opinions of people who actually know the game.

Just imagine how bad it could have been if we had put one of our good defenders on him instead of Bryce

Brown only dropped 15 points so marshco was wrong.

Resident AU Bball stats guru. You are full of shite

Box plus minus is an absolute garbage way to judge defensive contribution of an on ball defender.

Rebounding as a an on ball defender perimeter shooter is never going to be high either
