Just have to laugh at complete mismanagement of the clock

Haven’t really come close to stopping ole miss the entire half. So we snap the ball with 2 minutes to go and 25 seconds on snap clock. We scored a TD I get it but what about looking slightly ahead? Well... at least our coaching clown show is consistent.

So ready to put this year in the rearview.

At least we saved enough time on the clock for us to run twice and let the clock run?

I’m to the point where I’m watching this and I don’t even care if we win or lose.

Ugly game. Winning is still more fun than losing.

I'm still taking LSU to cover in the sports book next week though.

I hated, hated running out the clock before the half. If you're that worried about Starkel throwing an int then why is he in there to start with? And it made no sense to me to settle for 3 at the end. Either way, they've gotta score 7 to win. The ONLY thing 3 does for you is they have to score a TD + 2 with 1:59 left to win. Don't score a TD, and they still have to score a TD to win. I've no idea what was going through Sumlin's head in either case.

I'm happy with the win. I will not be unhappy to see a new head coach!

I'm still bemused by the decision to kick a fg on the 1 foot line.

QB sneak the shite and put the game away ffs.

Wait.....wut?

If they scored 7, they tied it. What am I missing here?

Announcer Tubberville even made that comment. Something like: “I ran the spread for 7 years, but I always demanded we have a play or two under center for when we just needed a foot. This situation right here absolutely calls for a QB sneak”. Something Sumlin still hasn’t been able to do since once or twice when Johnny was here. Just head scratching that we can’t implement a simple under center play, just bad coaching all around.

You have to have a couple of those in your pocket just for situational football at least.

Who cares what Tubs was saying? That dude was so blatantly auditioning for a new HC job it was funny.

I care. Why can the rest of the spread teams in college football line up under center and have the QB fall forward for less than a years with a success rate that’s probably over 75% and we can’t? Everything we do we either over complicated or or out think ourselves.

He’s not any worse than listening to tony romo not take a breath during an entire NFL game now that’s he’s in the broadcast booth.

If we attempted to score and succeeded, the game is over.

If we attempted to score and failed, they'd have to score a TD to win starting from their 1-foot line.

If we kicked a FG (which happened), they'd have to score 7 to tie starting from their 20-30, which seems way more likely than the above.

Given those options I cannot see not going for it on 4th and a foot. Sumlin had a chance to ice the game, and took the ultra-conservative-I'm-so-afraid-of-what-might-happen approach. I hate that.

finest nailed it.

It's a mindset thing. Sumlin played not to lose, with the game sitting a foot away. Challenge their manhood and go for the kill. If not, you put all the pressure on OM just to get out of their own end zone.

I disagree

You go for it and don’t get in and ole miss goes the distance and wins and all of you would be crucifying Sumlin for not kicking the field goal

Sarge would have kicked on 3rd down, bc we might fumble.

Some would. I would not.

If:

1.) We can't punch it in from 12 inches out

2.) We give up a 99+ yard TD drive

Then we didn't deserve to win anyways. I usually don't get mad at playing for the win.

Nope, I would not. I might be a bit chafed that they scored a TD from their 1-foot line with less than 2 minutes left, but I definitely would not second-guess the decision to go for it.

It’s obvious that everyone is so ready for Sumlin to go that every decision is the wrong decision, even if it wins the game. All impartiality has gone out the window. It’s no longer worth debating.
