Quality wins and terrible losses should both be considered and injuries are a part of the game.
But UGA has no quality wins.
And they lost to a team that lost to Troy. And Clemson

If it plays out like your last scenario, there will be riots no matter the committee’s decision. They showed last year with the B1G that they will leave a champ out. I bet Bama would get that nod. And Auburn would rightly have a fit.

Nah, if Auburn wins out they are going. They won't do that again.
But I'm sure Ohio State will somehow weasel back in.

The committee consistently does a horrible job. There is no baseline and the bcs ranking system with a 4 team playoff would be much better. But they want control to create big matchups (see Clemson and miami's ranking this week) as well as to have something to discuss week in and week out.
I love the playoff but the committee is horrible and when they start expanding the playoff it will be the beginning of the end of college football as we know it. Enjoy it while it lasts

Honestly, I would have gone
1. Miami
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma
4. Clemson
5. Wisconsin
6. Auburn
7. Georgia
8. Penn State
9. Ohio State
10. Notre Dame

Yep.
Unless it goes completely crazy, those top 7 are the ones with legitimate shots.

I agree but the committee isn't going to jump Miami from 7 to 1 over a still undefeated bama
and that's fine
and that's fine

Since most of these teams are going to sort themselves out anyway, what’s wrong with building the hype with these SEC and ACC schools being ranked highly and maybe getting a few more casual fans involved? There isn’t such a huge difference in these teams where it’s just blatant where they’re ranked anyway. We’re all arguing about one or two places in the rankings. Irrelevant.
The more eyeballs the better.

It just sort of undermines the reliability and trust of the ranking system in my mind when it appears that they are trying to hype up games. A lot of subjectivity to the whims of the committee which i don't personally think creates a solid foundation for the system.

They’re still human. There will always be some bias.
At this point, does it matter whether Miami , Clemson or Oklahoma is ranked second? Are they getting a trophy for it?

Miami has one win where they looked really good. Bad schedule. One game where they looked really good. Needed a horseshoe up their asses to beat FSU and Tech. Why do people keep trying to crown them?
Agreed. They looked damn good last week against ND and that's what is giving them a big boost. But they're had a number of close wins against bad teams. That being said, I think it works itself out. Can't imagine they beat Clemson.

If you can't beat a 4-6 team with a backup qb then you don't deserve to be the #2 team in the nation. Especially when there are a few undefeateds left on the table.
Exactly. If you lose a close game without your starting QB to a top 15 team, that might be understandable. That is not the case with Clemson and Syracuse.

Let’s also not forget guys what happened the last two times Oklahoma and that high powered offense faced Clemson.....
77-23 Clemson
77-23 Clemson

Clemson's QB was playing hurt the first half against Syracuse. To say they had him for a half is true, but he was severely limited.
When we played Syracuse we had half our DL out, our 2 starting tackles (iirc) out, Guice playing on 1 leg (should have not played at all tbh), and Key was way out of shape and not himself yet. I don't think Clemson should get that much slack.

Meh, Eason is healthy and still riding the bench. UGA’s only loss came with a healthy Eason on the bench. Clemson is a different team with their starting QB.
So don't reward Georgia because they have a competent backup but don't punish Clemson because they don't?
As others have said, if you aren't a good enough team at the other 21 positions to beat a 4-6 team then maybe you aren't the second best team in the country.

That was the coaches' fault. He shouldn't have been in there. You can't forgive coaching mistakes. I would like to see our record with Deebo Samuel in all season. Is it just the QB injuries that get forgiven?

Miami and Clemson belong in the top 4 regardless so how can you blame the committee for “creating” that matchup?

The national champs shouldn’t have been playing on a Friday night in New York anyway. We deserve a mulligan. The committee knows and everyone else does as well that Clemson is one of the best in the country.
