The early 80's UGA teams were not unlike the 2010 Auburn team...a once-in-a-generation player taking a team on bis back to a title, but this UGA team is different. They have an attitude and a culture that I haven't seen from Georgia in 40+ years of watching SEC football. Speed and ferocity on defense and a stable of backs to rotate and keep the momentum going.

We are amazed as well, Smart has been worth the change. Finally it appears we have the right coach and this is only the beginning.

Better wait until after the SECCG before making such a bold pronouncement.

Difficult to say. Their division is so much worse than it used to be.

Agreed. He has a talented, physical and motivated team. He seems to be recruiting very well too.

Kirby is poised to do great things in Athens.

Agreed, hands down the best UGA team I've seen since the 80's. They have a chance to do something special.

Seriously, though, I can't believe how good this team has been. I don't know what to do with my hands. I don't know how to handle life. Every day my brain wracks between happy, worried and expecting the Eastern Sky to split.

Someone help me.

Agree, I think this is the year they run the table and win it all. They are due.

I dont understand. Kirby was just a coordinator in title at Bama and Saban really ran the defense so how could he be coaching the best UGA team in your lifetime?

We'll see in aboout 4 weeks how good we really are. Outside of ND, which we won by one point, and maybe Mississippi State, we haven't played a team worthy of being on the same field. But we have taken care of business and won all of them by at least 3 possessions or more.

Still not ready to crown a damn thing. Could be just another 2012, 2002, or 2007... Close but no cigar.

I’m reserving judgement until they play a team with a pulse. Mississippi State would be undefeated if they played in the EAST and any other team from the west named Auburn, Alabama, LSU

Georgia is really good. I am totally shocked at how fast Kirby has turned this thing around. Many of us thought we were underperforming for years given the advantages we have over many programs in the country. I think rivals and pundits who think this is a blip on the radar and Georgia goes back to being 8-4 or 9-3 type team are going to be very disappointed. When your head coach is arguably the best recruiter in the country in one of the richest territories in the country you will likely compete at the top for a while.

With all that being said I still don't think this is our year. I think we likely drop the Auburn game and the Bama SECCG and miss the playoffs. I am just glad we are finally killing teams we should have been killing for years. Richt had too many escapes or close loses to teams that had no business playing us close. The depth is there, the coaching is there, and the attitude is there moving forward.

I get your gist in that UGA has a bad-assed team and I TOTALLY agree... but you're dangerously close to saying Cam = Herschel which I find insulting as Hell...especially when you have Bo Jackson on the shelf.

Cam was nothing more than a hired merc...at worst, an embarrassment to the SEC and Auburn. At best...no one worth celebrating.

Bo and Herschel are SEC Royalty if not Demigods.
I wouldn't let Cam shine their mfing shoes.

Only reason for that is the new coaching staff is much better.
