Dude I work with is from Alabama. Did undergraduate at auburn and graduate at bama. In Alabama, where should his aligience lie? I know for most places it’s the undergrad but dude says he is a die hard bama fan

Honestly it usually comes down to family ties in this rivalry. I know plenty of people who went to Bama but remained AU fans and vice versa.

Most people stick with who they grew up rooting for

most people in Alabama make their pick of Bama and Auburn in their youth before college. When you are born the doctor slaps u on the arse and says who you got in the Iron Bowl

A lot of Bama fans attend Auburn as undergrads, but stay loyal to Bama. They join fraternities, etc.. I know of ZERO Auburn fans who went to Bama.

His allegiance should lie with the program he grew up rooting for.
People who spend 18-20 years being a fan of one team, just to swap teams because of where they spend 2-4 years to earn a degree are complete sellouts, IMO.

His allegiance should be to whichever school he wants it to be.

Oh, one of those veterinary attorneys.
You can't trust them anyway.

Did he say this before or after Auburn lost to O?

I know several, including a sister-in-law. Life-long Auburn fan, went to UA because they offered a degree that Auburn didn't.
The reverse is a lot more common, though.

Yeah but that's because no one likes you and you have no friends.

I mean, I grew up an LSU fan and didn't stop being one just because I went to Auburn, but I don't think it is fair to say someone is a sellout because they pull for the school that gave them their degree. I'm an AU alum and will damn sure support my school, but I didn't magically forget a decade of being an LSU fan either.
It just means I was very confused about the results of this past weekend's game.

My cousin went to school in T-Town but she is still an Auburn fan. Her Dad was an Auburn grad and she was just raised that way.
