What a terrible tragedy this is for so many. It never fails to amaze me that those that have the least, more often than not, give the most during times like these.

Another article: Cajun Navy en route to Houston
And from Tennessee:

According to the Southeast Louisiana Storm Spotters Facebook page, Houston area officials gave the Cajun's the green light to come in and assist with search and rescue efforts.

My sister is trying to get back home from South Padre (as my niece was supposed to be headed to college at TAMUCC), so we went out to Loves to see if she was going to be able to get in from I-10 and we just saw the craziest thing at Loves Truck Stop. Hundreds of people, at least 20 vans, multiple trucks pulling FEMA boats (at least 20 boats), charter bus and many semis. I have never seen anything like this. They are huge units from Tennessee and Nebraska. Thank you America for you overwhelming support. The video and pictures only capture a tiny piece of this group.

I saw boats pulled by truck on friday here and figured that's where they were headed also. What a country!

Note to America- notice the kind of quiet American that comes to the aid of his fellow Americans when the chips are down. And notice the kind of loud Americans who don't, and even worse, mock and ridicule the ones who do.

Ditto. They are too busy blaming someone for why there was a hurricane. Same old story. I can tell you right now the vast majority of people trecking there to help are hunters, patriots who love this country and other people that certain people hate. They'll be looting while the good men get their hands dirty and bring boats, water and food. Seen it before.

You bastards may have made a terrible hire for a HC, but if my arse was stranded in a flood, I'd rather have the Cajun Navy en route than the USCG... and my wife is an active duty Coastie.
Just know that if it comes down to that, I'll look like Lt. Dan (with legs) with a bottle of Makers. Which I will share upon rescue.

We sent a bunch of stuff to Louisiana when Baton Rouge and Denham springs flooded with a convey. Everyone chipped in. A bunch of people here like me have family there. They told me the Fema and Red Cross etc did very little. The bulk of water and food being handed out were by volunteers both locally and out of state.
That really pissed me off. It looks like this one is more organized. Hopefully it turns out better. I'll donate when I read of a reputable charity for this one. It's all you can do if not there.

Worked with several 100 or so back in 2010 on the Kalamazoo River Spill. We absolutely "passed" a good time. Initial response used john boats with outboard motors which was a bad idea. One phone call from my boss to the Houma and 252 airboats arrived in a matter of a few days. One of the best times I have ever had.

These guys are awesome. Dropping everything to go help. And somewhat organized. And I'm sure there's many more like this coming from around the rest of the SEC and the country.
