We live just up the road in Spanish Fort, rip currents have been a problem this year. I believe I read something like 10 people have drowned in the last 2 weeks. Tragedy for the families

Worked with several 100 or so back in 2010 on the Kalamazoo River Spill. We absolutely "passed" a good time. Initial response used john boats with outboard motors which was a bad idea. One phone call from my boss to the Houma and 252 airboats arrived in a matter of a few days. One of the best times I have ever had.

For what its worth. I spent 12 years in Alaska. Most old timers I met believed a statue of Joseph Hazelwood should have been built in Anchorage. Was told by many the economy was dead until the spill happened.

Considering I was back home in Arkansas in 2014 on the Exxon Spill in Mayflower. There is no way in hell I would be there. We shut down the response to focus on the residents for about six weeks. It was absolute devastation.
