We are going to Tennessee for the eclipse

We (SigOther and I) are driving up from New Orleans, will stay Sunday night in N. Alabama and drive into the rustic moonshining part of Tennnessee to view eclipse from a ridge top (oops - "rustic-moonshining-Tennessee" - I did an oxymoron there, sorry).
I know enough to fill up with gas in Alabama because I'm not sure they have stations in Tennessee. But what should I take for the day-long excursion? I guess I should stock up on wheat bread for sandwiches because I think they only have corn bread up there. Do they have real stores and things in Tennessee or are they just the "general store" type establishment selling cupful's of corn meal and scoops of beans? I'm not partial to possum for lunch, much prefer nutria... so if there is an eating establishment somewhere, what would be the best bet on the menu? Coon-brisket? Bear fat soaked corn-meal dogs?
Should I try to disguise myself as a native by wearing overalls and no shirt, coloring a couple of teeth black, and hope they leave me alone or should I carry a firearm? What type? I could take one of my flintlocks to both disguise myself and carry... is this wise or will I need a magazine to handle coon-dog packs and the groups of people recently released from institutions?
Should I cover up the LA license plate with the U of Ala holder? What stickers should I put on my windows to lessen the chance of encounters with people named Clem. Would it help if I used colloquial language such as "hay-all yea-uh that's a good'un Clem, you'uns is a real Danal-boone, done be shoot-un at that thar bear over yonder."
Finally.. is it wise to carry my guitar or banjo to entertain myself while waiting on the event? Should I carry a funnel? Should I use pronouns such as Xe and Xoi?
I really could use some guidance going up near a prosperous (for Tennessee) mud-chinked log cabin settlement in the Sequatchie Valley. This is a photo of part of the town and some residents that is on Wikipedia:

You should come to Idaho to watch it.
We are expecting 500,000 visitors this weekend just for the eclipse.
At least I'm not in Oregon. They are anticipating 1.5 million visitors.

Just focus on getting out of New Orleans alive first

Columbia, SC is anticipating 1 million visitors...just in Columbia. That doesn't include Greenville and Charleston.
It is going to be nuts. I'm so excited though.

The radio said this morning to be prepared for increased gas prices this weekend.

The wife wants to go up into the mountains to see it so I guess that's what we are going to do.

I'm staying right at home. I live in Aiken, SC and we are in the direct path of the eclipse. Convenient.

It's very possible they'll be evacuating for a hurricane along the east coast right about then.

Pro Tip: wear 3-D glasses and it will look like the eclipse is coming right at you.

All I can tell you is be alert on the roads, or trails. When those people come down out of the hills to visit the Huntsville AL walmarks or outdoor stores, it's obvious they've never encountered multiple lanes or traffic lights.

Color me jealous.
I'll be toiling away harvesting corn under low, grey clouds and 99% humidity in MS.
The only eclipse here will be the joy from my heart.

Hotels are book solid everywhere.
AirBnB is probably doing pretty well. I saw a travel trailer renting for $400 a night on that site.

Between hotels, houses, and campgrounds, it'll work out. I think it is a great thing for the city.

We're going up from Huntsville to Gallatin, TN the day before. Booked a hotel last summer just to be sure!!
I'm gonna gas up down here before leaving and put some water and snacks in the car just in case. Not quite sure what to expect. As long as it's not overcast, it'll be worth it.
