I’m curious why u say this? Never? You’ve obviously never been in pain from bone on bone bud. I can promise quality of life is zip. After my hip replacement my life changed 180 degrees. Best decision I ever made.
Hip arthroplasty is much different the. Knees.
Recovery is much easier and typically less risky.
I am not your bud tho..

Paid 25 a piece for me and my son for IMAX early showing plus 40 for food/snacks. I would say it was still well worth it for the great theater experience!
Yes I recommend prophylactic pain management prior to PT sessions at least the first 1-2 weeks

Nope, I would say young, men with prior surgical history and obviously any history of opioid use are the biggest risk factor for poor results.
As another poster said, consider manipulation if range of motion limited after 10-12 weeks

You just can't say something like this without giving an explanation why
1. Risk is too great, joint infection is real and could be life changing
2. You can never go back once the decision is made
3. You need to be aware you are electing to have a mechanical joint (that means it won’t feel like a natural knee and mechanics can wear out of fail.)
Once again, good luck in your recovery but it is not for me.

53 is very young to have a knee replacement and those younger patients tend to struggle with pain post op typical due to being more active and “over doing “ their therapy, also in my experience patients with prior surgery have more scar tissue and bleeding during surgery hence the significant swelling.
That being said you are only 6-8 weeks removed from this life changing decision. I would give it some time (minimum 4-5 months)
Also I assist in joint replacement 500 a year for last 13 years as a PA (I would never have a joint replacement unless absolutely last resort)
Good luck

Ask ChatGPT…honestly I have no idea why people ask a dumb message board when you can get more accurate answers with AI
