Unfortunately valid.

Outside of the colors, people, architecture, tailgating, University presidents, and propensity to cheat to get recruits, I don't see it.

have never spent a weekend in Austin and thought the University of Texas made that an attractive destination.
Well considering last time you played there they were so upset at losing to you that some of their fans gave one of your students permanent brain damage in a vicious assault...... I don't blame you

While that is true, that's not really my point. Austin is a badass city and UT has very little to do with that. I mean they filmed Friday Night Lights there. What more can I say?

Mizzou - Minnesota is the most logical comparison.

Can't refute it. Although Tech would be the choice had they not left the SEC.

Actually UT has more to do with it than anything else even the state government
What has grown the economy is the abundance of jobs in the technology sector. The technology sector was created and stimulated by UT research.
UT besides Stanford is the top university in nano and biotechnology. The microelectronic engineering reasearch center is one of the Top 5 in the world

But who at UT created Torchy's Tacos and Gordough's?

Without Obama visiting UT Torchy's Tacos would be unknown to most.
Besides the location with the hills and limestone that are unique to the flatlanders in Texas what grew Austin was the University of Texas.
You put a large great academic university that conducts research at a large scale in any place watch how it changes the surrounding area.
UGA has done the same in Austin but at a much large scale
This is not even talking about the similarities in their athletic programs and football programs.
The hero worship of Walker and Campbell still with Georgia and Texas fans of a just another similarity

That's one Hell of an Insult to Florida! Oregon?!?
Florida is ahead of both Florida St. and Miami and would most closely resemble Nebraska. Not quite Oklahoma on the upside or Fla St. on the downside. Nebraska would be the best comparison. People forget how dominant both Nebraska and Florida both used to be. Wasn't that long ago. Time flies....

I hate to say it, but Georgia and Texas are the two most underachieving programs in college football.

The UF-Oregon comparison is pretty bad, maybe UF is hard to pair up but there's not all that much in common with them.

Va Tech maybe? Neither program was exactly a powerhouse until a legendary coach came in and turned it around. Florida has 3 titles to VT's 0, but both have been very good for the most part since Spurrier and Beamer showed up. I think Fuente could eventually take VT to bigger heights than Beamer did (like Meyer did, but not nearly as dominant) and win a national title there.
It's a reach, but it's the best I can come up with without putting way too much thought into it. Florida is a unique program to make a comparison to.

Uh how in the hell is georgia like texas? Texas is in a down period right now, but, they have championships and success that georgia hasnt even come close to. Georgia is no where near the program texas is. Georgia should be compared to a program like virginia tech or something.
