Is the SEC East really that far behind the West?

With the SEC 'ship game this coming weekend, I, along with other Florida fans, have been force fed the narrative that the SEC West is a vastly superior machine to the East, like Kia is a vastly superior machine to BMW.
However, upon perusing the internet and discovering that the spread was (-24) Alabama, I was a bit shocked. Now, I ain't saying that Alabama isn't a good team and I will not be surprised in the least if they beat the Fighting Gators of Florida. However, this narrative that the SEC East is "worse than the Mountain West" or that the SEC West dominates the East ain't exactly true. While the West does have a slight advantage this year, let's examine the numbers, shall we?
For the 2016 season, the SEC East had a 5-9 record against the West, with only two teams (SC and Tenn (shocking, I know)) having two losses against the West. And both of those teams lost to Alabama and Texas A&M, who are the only West teams that are 2-0 against the East this year. Mind you Tenn and A&M went into 2OT and SC A&M was no blowout either. Only Alabama has had two convincing wins against the East.
Outside of those 4 teams, the rest of the SEC is 1-1 in inter-divisional play. Auburn (the "WE BACK" team of the year) barely hung on to beat Vandy and then lost to a UGA team that was as soft as Jacob Eason's hair. LSU beat the safe space out of Mizzou, but laid an egg on UF after (ironically) mocking an entire state that was preparing for a catastrophe. Arkansas beat UF in their worst performance of the year, but then lost to Mizzou and Bert the Kool Ade man had to find his own safe space. This gelatinous blob gets got by the worst team in the entire SEC and somehow still has a smoking hot wife. Moo St beat SC and no one gave a shite, but then lost to Kentucky. And finally, we get to Ole Piss herself. After running that train like Willie Jame Huff saw on 44 Magnolia Street, threw the window on Kirby Smart, they get blown up by Vandy. Derek fricking Mason and the Commodores.
And before any of you baby faced Mongoloids start crying about the UGA team with the freshman quarterback who looks like he reads Twilight losing to the triple option and a Florida team that had the health and well being of Terry Schiavo losing to Florida State and saying "the East lost to the ACC!!" just remember that Kentucky went to Pizza Town and beat the pepperoni and cheese out of Bobby P and the Papa John's Deep Dish Cardinals (c). I can't think of a better SEC non-conference win this year. Name one. You can't.
In conclusion, I hope all you West homers reevalutate the saturation and convolute that the West ain't wild; its mild. The only fanbases that have any clout to brag about owning the East is Bama and A&M. And thus whole narrative by the mainstream media and dumbasses everywhere that the East is lightyears behind the West as a whole is unfounded and untrue based on the facts and figures. For if you still come to the conclusion that the East is weak, then therefore so is the West.
Go Gators.

Since the college football playoff format started. I think every team in the West but Ark has been ranked in the top 4 at some point. Has the east had any teams in the top 4?

I think Bama's annihilation of USC would qualify as a better win than UK's 3 point win over UL.

Yes, sadly. The West isn't even good.

1. At the time the game was cancelled, it looked like it would be a catastrophe, yes. We got lucky. Sorry if I didn't spell that out for you.
2. That was written Nov. 1. Lot has happened since then. But nice try. Good job. Good effort.

The difference is that the West has Alabama in it.
