Serious question: Do you consider Ed Orgeron to be an intelligent man?

I really can't figure him out.
I never thought Les was intelligent. LSU fans embraced the unintelligent way he came across as 'quirky', but I'm pretty sure that deep-down everyone thought he was a dum-dum.
But I can't get a good read on Eaux. I won't knock his accent, because - despite holding down a professional job -I probably sound as country as a butterbean sandwich to most non-southerners. It could be that I don't have a lot of Eaux press conferences to reference.
What are your opinions?

It's football. You don't need to be intelligent.

I don't think you can get in that kind of position without at least having an IQ a standard deviation above normal. That doesn't always show up in someone's communication skills with media.

Of course he's intelligent, he speaks multiple languages

He's a lot smarter than Les in my book. Yaw Yaw at least knew when to admit he fricked up at Ole Miss

He's from Louisiana. There is literally zero intelligent people from Louisiana, including me.

I don't care about his school intelligence... I care about his football intelligence, if he didn't have that he wouldn't of been in the coaching ranks as long as he has

Not sure about Orgeron, but pretty sure Alleva is a total idiot.

He is obviously street smart in the way that he is usually successful in recruiting. Getting this job shows some serious political skill, although he had the benefit of his background and Fat Goebbels. But, he is your typical meathead football coach to me. It's funny, I look at college hoops coaches and assume 95% of them are brilliant. I feel like maybe 10% of college football coaches are bright.

He's intelligent enough to have a 5 year / 3.5M per year gig.

i wasn't curious enough so i never would have posed the question but i agree with your opinion on les (and i stated it many times) and i also agree that just because O's voice is goofy it doesn't mean that he's goofy. i haven't listened to him speak enough to give a qualified answer.

Well, he knows football. He's not going to be making any groundbreaking physics discoveries anytime soon but neither would any other college football coach. His degree is in liberal arts fwiw.

Yeah I don't think Ogeron or Miles are dumb...They may not be intellects but you can't an idiot either.

He makes more money than me, so he has that fact on his side.

I met him 30+ years ago when he was very young. He isn't scholarly, but he is an intelligent and witty man, especially when it comes to football. You cannot equate his accent with a lack of intelligence.

Ed Orgeron is a Cajun alcoholic
He had his team play bull in the ring in the hallway of an Indoor Practice Facility because a football game was delayed due to rain

Exactly. I'm guessing the majority of you posting here have some kind of noticeable accent, and I doubt anyone thinks that is a reflection of their intellect.

While I admit the yaw yaw bit never stops being funny, you are right in that a strong accent isn't a sure and certain sign of being dim.
Actor G.D. Spradlin, for example, had one of the thickest twangs I've ever heard... and I grew up in the Deep South. He also was a self made millionaire who retired at the age of 40 and took up acting as a hobby. Quite successfully.
Coach O might not be Wiley E. Coyote, super genius, but he is a very good recruiter and a good motivator. If he surrounds himself with the right people he could do very well at LSU.
If not, well then whoever gets the job after him will at least have a team stocked with talent.
