victim shaming I know
plus I don't think we got that play off, and if you watch it Dural was in motion anyway

That last play gave them an excuse to run Miles out of town. They can have no complaints.

Those are fair points, but I truly think Miles was retained last season on the condition that he changed the offense. Through 4 games this year, it was painfully obvious that the offense didn't change a lick. That is why he was fired. Not because he lost to Wisconsin by 2 points and to Auburn by 5.
Let's not forget the terrible offensive performance in the second half (that nearly cost us the game) against a bad Mississippi state team.
I think there are pros and cons to firing a coach this early. if he was going to be fired at the end of the year anyway, what difference does it make?

The SEC Rant loved Miles because they knew what LSU would be with him.
You are all so nervous that LSU will get someone like Tom Herman or Jimbo Fisher. I love it.

I keep reading that line and it makes no sense to me. If Joe would have forced him to fire Cam I would get it but that didn't happen.
It seems to me that the coup failed last year, and due to that Les was able to give token concessions (like "I will change the offense but not change the personal") because he had consolidated power.
Les's power was erased when Wincy won, which gave Joe what he needed politically to fire Les.
That is the only explanation that fits the facts. "Les made a promise and he lied!" sounds like 8 year old girl logic.

Fair enough.
I suppose if they demanded an offensive change and Les knew it, and still retained Cam, despite their warnings, he should have expected to be canned.
It could have been handled much better (and believe me, we know about shitty handling of a coach's firing [Sherman]). Now, the optic to coaching candidates is that LSU won't even let you finish the season. It gives the appearance that LSU has unrealistic expectations.
They should have demanded that Les get a new offensive coordinator or be shown the door, at the end of last season. They screwed up both the management of Les and timing of his dismissal.
Now, the season is a wash and apathy looms. Major sports media will largely ignore LSU football for the next 2-3 months. It amounts to a near full season without LSU football. And Aggys know better than anyone about how one absent football season can completely destroy a program's momentum.
The good news is LSU is fricking LSU, and can bounce back quickly, IF they hire the right coach.

It was his fault. The refs were gathered for a good minute. He (Les) knew the penalty was on them and they'd have to run another play. He should have had a play called and the kids lined up where we all knew the ball was going to be spotted.
Then he would have had a fighting chance to get the ball snapped. He didn't b/c he looked like a confused child trying to find his ball in the tall grass. He was ill-prepared, which seemed to be a constant theme of his time at LSU.

bullshite. LSU needs to be good. The SEC is much better when LSU is a competitor. It hurts all of us.
We, unlike others that are within 100 miles of our university, understand the relationship between conference strength and the strength of individual programs.

What about #7 getting tackled at the goal line while the ball was going over his head? He was getting mugged. Should have been off setting penalties and play an untimed down. (IF the play had counted, which it shouldn't have, because...)
But Les was too stupid to get his team lined up on the ball in all the confusion between plays. All they had to do was have the center snap the ball at the sound of the whistle.

Yes, for the time being. And Gus Malzahn might have been fired.
Les probably would have been fired at year's end though. He might have even been fired after LSU's 2nd loss of the season.
And LSU didn't get screwed on the last play. But had they won Miles would still be employed.

FIFY, and yes, he would still be coaching and Malzhan would either already be fired or would be within the next month (he still may be).

You mean what if LSU didn't screw up clock management or didn't let the clock hit zero without going for the endzone?
Les would still be coach but he clearly was being fired this year if he didn't win out

If not, You have ZERO clue what you are talking about and should just keep quiet and stop being a dumby. Etling said he snapped the ball before any whistle was blown and while the refs were still getting set just to make sure the snap WASN'T late. Our disfunctional coach just accepted the ruling without an official review of the start of the play clock.

I understand that the SEC benefits when it's teams are good. How does LSU being good help A&M? You lose more on the field and on the recruiting trail. There is very little opportunity for both LSU and A&M to be great. This is the challenge LSU faces with Bama, but I'd argue the problem is even worse with A&M.

What a terrible decision. The administration needs to be summarily fired for such thoughtless, emotional, panic-ridden decision-making.
When you make $5M+ a year to coach football, you better be perfect. LSU was far from that and the admin believes the team can improve. Nothing about this is thoughtless or panic-ridden.
