And until today, I didn't realize how tough it is.

Sept. 5 (Mon.) Florida State (Orlando)
Sept. 10 WOFFORD
Sept. 17 ALABAMA
Sept. 24 GEORGIA
Oct. 1 MEMPHIS
Oct. 8 Open date
Oct. 15 at Arkansas
Oct. 22 at LSU
Oct. 29 AUBURN
Nov. 5 GEORGIA SOUTHERN
Nov. 12 at Texas A&M
Nov. 19 at Vanderbilt
Nov. 26 MISSISSIPPI STATE

To start, you open with FSU in what amounts to a home game for them. Your fans travel extremely well, but how do you anticipate a Monday night game affecting travel? Based on board chatter and what you know, are a lot of fans attending? Even though FSU has questions at QB, it likely won't be a cake walk.

Wofford is a win, but it's a very short week to prepare.

Then you have Alabama and UGA at home. Even if you manage to beat Alabama, it's going to be a tough, physical game. While I don't think UGA is going to contend for the east this year and I believe Ole Miss wins, it's another physically demanding game since they'll rely heavily on the ground attack.

I doubt y'all lose again to Memphis.

Worst case scenario at this point you're 2-3 going into your bye week. Best case you're probably 4-1. If you had last year's talent I'd say 5-0 is a possibility, but for sake of argument say you drop one.

The open date comes at a good time, but then you have games at Arkansas, at LSU and against AU. While you'll be favored in Arkansas, it will be another physical game for your D since we know Bert will pound the ball. Then a game in Death Valley. Even though you get AU at home, I've got to think Auburn has a better chance than people think mainly because of the toughness of the schedule up to this point. Do y'all have the depth this year in case of injury, etc.?

Worst case scenario is you're 1-2 with these three games. Could go 3-0.

Georgia Southern is a W.

The three remaining conference games are likely W's, even though Vandy's D is predicted to be really good.

Worst case realistic scenario could you see your team losing as many as 5 games? Does the way your schedule line up, even though you get Bama and UGA at home, worry you at all. Again, I don't think it's as much a talent issue as how you open the season and scheduling through October.

FSU is going to blow the doors off of Ole Miss in week 1.

The problem with playing Wofford isn't that they won't win. Ole Miss will slaughter Wofford, the problem lies with Wofford running a full on option. Ole Miss (and everyone that plays the the Woffords and Citadels of the world) is bound to lose a few lineman.

Not ideal when you have Bama in a week.

I invited myself to the Bama game,

Yep, it's tough. I think we do 8-4 and are still a very good team.

If you are Bama, do you want OM to lose to FSU or beat FSU?

(Hint: you're fricked either way)

I'm not a fan of either team but I will be pretty excited to see the week 3 game with Bama.

Very touch schedule. I do see them beating FSU. At least I hope they do.

With the threat of coming NCAA sanctions, Ole Miss will do one of two things:

1. Circle the wagons and play their asses off, and win.

2. Worry about what is fixin' to happen to their future and play shitty.

I pick 2.

First of all, thanks for not being a full-on rantard. I'm happy to see someone try to have a legitimate discussion.

While the opener amounts to a defacto road game, I don't think the crowd will play much of a factor one way or another in this one. I expect the Rebel faithful to travel well enough for that to be the case.

As far as our absolutely brutal September start, there really is no sugar coating. Any reasonable fan would be happy to walk away 2-2 and ecstatic for anything better. The only silver lining here is that we may very well see 3 freshman quarterbacks. One would think freshman quarterbacks in the 1st month of the season will still be very green. Ole Miss could be good enough defensively and smart enough offensively to take advantage of such young QBs. But again, 2-2 or 3-1 is nothing to be ashamed of.

After September, Arkansas and especially LSU are the only teams we face where I could see a loss being more likely than not.

Best case scenario = 1/2 losses (FSU/Bama/LSU)

Worst case = 4/5 losses (FSU/Bama/UGA/Arkansas/LSU)

really? Their record crowd at home is just over 62K. They don't even travel well to home games given that number.

I'll be satisfied with 9 wins. 9-10 wins in a season is the best an Ole Miss fan can hope for. I'd love to see us do better....but WAOM so its probably not very realistic

Let me guess, you are a politician? I assume a politician because you just wrote a ton of stuff but didn't say or mean a thing.

It won't be cake walk by any means. I feel good about the game though. I think our offense will be near unstoppable. And if FSU isn't careful with their QB situation he could get them in trouble. I expect them to run Cool early and often and try to slow down the game. And I'm not too concerned about it being a "FSU home game" we beat Bama in Tuscaloosa last year and we will have a higher percentage in Orlando than we had there.

Obviously Bama will be tough. And the thing about UGA is I've heard talks that they were a part of crying to the NCAA to get into us and I've heard freeze knows this and is ready to hang 70 on them of given the chance.

As someone else said in a vacuum we can win every game. But the season isn't one game at a time. It's 12 games in 13 weeks and things that happen in week four may impact week 5. So we will see.

I personally have pretty high hopes for this season even with the difficulty of games. But then again I don't always judge a season just based on the ending record. I try and view what led to the finishing record.
