Site of the SECCG for over 20 years, hosted several SEC tournaments, Peach/Chic-Fil-A Bowls, Final Fours and a Sugar Bowl.
She's been a good one.

Gonna be fitting when the VOLS send her out by reclaiming the SEC throne

So what was particularly wrong with it?

Next year's Peach Bowl will be a playoff semifinal as well, probably the last big game the Dome hosts.

I've lived all but 7 years of my life in Ga. & have NEVER been to the Dome.

I've been to:
1 Falcons game.
5 SEC Championship games
and 4 Chick Fil A Kickoff games
so 10 times, all football games.
Hopefully will get to go to another SEC title game and a Peach Bowl this year.

The Dome's only problem was that it was built (completed) right as the retractable roof era started. It's in great shape, but the best experience is outdoors.

It's a shame it can't be sold and moved. It's a magnificent stadium and many communities would love to have it. I've watched the Cats play both football and basketball there and I'll be sad to see it go.

Glad we could go there at least once.
It's been real.

It was built about seven years before the retractable roof arenas full of amenities started going up. It became obsolete pretty fast.

Perhaps the best $100 million ever invested by the state of Georgia.
Without the Dome Atlanta does not get the Olympics,SECCG,2 Super Bowls,Final Fours,
SEC Basketball Tourny and countless other events.
And probably losses the Falcons to Jacksonville.
Those events (mostly the Olympics and Centennial Park)
completely revitalized that area of downtown to west midtown. Not a big government type but in this case the investment was well worth it.

Seen a lot of good stuff there
Been there for 4 SEC championship games (3 Alabama and one Auburn (wife is an Auburn grad))
2 Chick-Fil-A kickoffs
6 Falcons games
2 SEC Bball tournaments
Going tonight to first concert there - Guns N Roses (can't decide if it's going to be awesome nostalgia or depressing nostalgia)
How is as a concert venue by the way?

It's a damn shame, still have a piece of the roof on my bookshelf at home, with the score on it, from the tornado game.

So many memories there, including LSU beating Duke and Texas to advance to the 2006 Final Four.
