She appears to cross professional lines with the players knowing the cameras are rolling. It makes me wonder how much she dialed it back?
I disagree. She's dealing with the most academically negligent football players there are. She has to be somewhat personal with them in order to gain their trust.
She is working multiple roles as many people at small community colleges do. I honestly don't know why anyone would assume anything negative towards her.

They all refer to her like their mom. They probably feel like she nags them like a mom would. I doubt she is banging any players, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was getting it with some of the young coaches. I imagine the pickings are pretty slim in that part of Miss. They also have her talk about how her personal life sucks and she sounds lonely now that the basketball coach divorced her and moved to another school leaving her as a single mom.

Yeah I have no idea how she is not leaving for a better pay day. I feel like after this show she will get some offers she won't be able to refuse.

All the shots of them driving are coming out of Meridian. Think about that.. Working in a place so barren you commute FROM MERIDIAN.

You must not be watching what I am watching. Her behavior comes across as both loving, but overly attached. It isn't insane to think her behavior is inappropriate at times. I certainly don't know anything, but if I was her supervisor and I witnessed her interactions with the players as portrayed on the show it would cause concern to me.

That she's showing those kids that she actually cares about them and their future?
Forgive me for thinking there are actually good people out there giving a $hit about what they do...

I could see how you might think that, but she has been doing this job for a while. She may get attached to kids that she pours a lot of effort into. She is doing what her employers are needing her to do.
I take what she is doing as sincere, and giving these kids a mother figure that is trying to keep them progressing towards their goal.
I will not criticize a person who appears to be genuine in their efforts.

We're watching the same show. You really don't understand her position within that particular institution. It is her ONLY job to get those players in the right classes and to pass the right classes to get them out of there. To do that she has to baby them like they were her own children, and that's how she views them.
It's not uncommon for teachers and supervisors to become very close with their students. I was really close with my high school math teacher because it was my weakest subject and I needed more one on one time. Same thing here. She spends so much time with all of them making sure that they get through and graduated that it's hard not to get emotionally attached.

I'm really kind of unimpressed with the overall coaching ability of the HC in particular, but his staff also.
I thought the OC actually was pretty intuitive. He had a much better handle on the esprit de corp of the team. The head coach was frikkin' clueless.

How quickly they give up is so frustrating to me. Any adversity and the best option in their minds is to quit. I get it you don't want to be in class but to stay eligible you HAVE to. To better your life you HAVE to. All they are really asking for is to put in effort and they will do anything to keep you on your path. It doesn't take brains or smarts to put forth effort and try. They can help you if you try and fail but they can't help you if you just quit.
Its the same psychological causes of suicide. Have you ever been around someone who is hopeless and on suicide watch?

When you work with the kind of kids she works with, from the background they come from, you can get attached to those kids when you put in that much effort to help them succeed.
She's basically serving as a surrogate mother. I think what you're mistaking for inappropriate is actually her serving in that "Mom" type role.
What interactions specifically made you think it was inappropriate?

Your spell checker is wrong and there is no hyphen.

I'll respond to Gatahata and your response in the same post...I am certainly not trying to be overly negative. I just see some of her interaction as unprofessional given her role in their lives. I also suspect based on the way they portrayed her she likely dialed it back a bit because of concerns for what might be perceived.
I have some experience to base my perspective on as a former D-II athlete (football) who spent a season at the D-I level. I now work with young men some of whom fit the statistical realities of those guys on that team. So I do have perspective of how to get things done successfully with young men "like that"...I also believe the coach should have been sent packing after the ref incident and certainly after the issue with the local law enforcement. I would argue the school clearly doesn't have the best interest of those young me and their future at heart based on what they are willing to expect to achieve the end goal.

So because some little lady trying to make a living let these kids walk out of class in high school the system is responsible for these kids lack of effort or scholastic knowledge?
Since when did I put this on the teachers? It is on the administration if anything. I agree that you can't help people that don't want to help themselves but it still doesn't change that they let some kids get away with way to much shite.
