I had a ton of friends that played JUCO football in what is probably the most competitive JUCO league in the country, the Jayhawk League. Crazy to hear some of their stories. Every JUCO team over signs and cuts people before the season starts. Hell, a buddy of mine who went to Coffeyville CC said on the first day the coach had them run around the track. If you quit running, you were off the team. They went from like 180 to 95 kids in a couple hours.

Had a few friends win a NJCCA Championship at Butler and others who played in one. Les was in attendance to watch Mett as well as others.

I didn't play but I was a trainer. The first day of practice was always an eye opener and used to get rid of people. One tactic was first practice of two a days was shorts and shoulder pads but full contact, tackling to the ground. Throw in one water break allowed with one cup of Gatorade, and about 30-40 had disappeared by the afternoon session.

I can remember a guy who was placed by Miami driving up to me and another guy saying he was looking for the school that he was there to play football and asked where it was. I told him this is it. He responded with "WTF" and drove off. Never saw him again. Nothing like the good old days.

How quickly they give up is so frustrating to me. Any adversity and the best option in their minds is to quit. I get it you don't want to be in class but to stay eligible you HAVE to. To better your life you HAVE to. All they are really asking for is to put in effort and they will do anything to keep you on your path. It doesn't take brains or smarts to put forth effort and try. They can help you if you try and fail but they can't help you if you just quit.

This is just a view of a small JUCO.....The same type players show up on every team.

After watching this show, I now understand why Nick Saban chooses to spend well over $100,000/year on psychologists for this players.

Those JUCO players come from the same background and family dynamic as some 5* players at Bama/LSU/UGA/FLA, etc. and our 5* studs were coddled during high school just like some of those kids in Scuba.

This is the was she HAS to be. In her role, this is 100% professional and necessary.

She even explained it to one of the recruiters that she has to do whatever she can to gain their trust. I'm sure she doesn't treat every athlete like that but the ones they highlighted needed that kind of attention just to get through the bare minimum.

Exactly. These guys at EMCC have no worse attitudes than the guys at the power 5 schools. I bet if you followed players from Bama, Auburn, UGA, etc around, you would hear the same grumblings about coaching and play calling. The power 5 are just more prepared to handle them. The support staff to enforce going to class or not missing meetings/workouts is endless. I cant believe that some of yall are 'shocked' by the players behavior.

Now the coach on the other hand...

Couldn't disagree with her more, but to each his own. Let's leave it there.

She's basically a social worker. All the girls I've known over the years who do or have done that type of work do get very emotionally attached to the kids they work with. I don't think there was anything weird about her outside the special type of personality basically required for that line of work. I think she is very genuine and is not unprofessional at all.

The coach seems like a real moron. Not sure how he has won that much there seems like his assistants have more of a clue what's going on than he does. I like how he screams to his players about attention to detail but didn't know they were down to their last down on the goaline.

Glad this was bumped, I just finished it yesterday. Here were some things I posted on our board:

Finished the series last night.

I seriously hope JF starts at auburn. If he does they're in big trouble. I realize having a year of coaching at a big boy school will improve him, but FFS he couldn't even win the starting job at a JUCO over a country boy who isn't even playing football anymore. He only got his scholarship offer after wyatt got hurt and JF came in.

Some of these guys....man. I WANT to feel bad for them, but it's 100% their own fault for not even putting in minimal effort.

Alreadyd been said, but Ollie and his other DL buddy are both at nicholls so it'll be intersting to see if they get any PT. Ollie was a 1 man turnover creating machine, but it was against sorry JUCO OLs...I'm curious to see what he'll do against our guys.

Isiah something, the backup RB, that guy looked genuinely good. Surprised DJ Law only ended up at UAB, but I guess grades were an issue with other schools. Also, if he barely scraped by at EMCC, how the frick is he gonna stay eligible at UAB?

Coach, good Lord. The first part of the series, I just thought he was one of those coaches that gets after you all the time. But throwing a punch at the sideline guy to get suspended 2 games was clearly over the line. To make things worse, in the last game he's out there threatening to beat the refs up! This guy is a clown.

I hate to talk bad about the OC (I think he was the OC, the guy who is now coach in waiting iwht the thick contry accent) since he seemed like a genuinely good dude. But there's no way these poor black kids related with some of his speeches. It was kind of awkward sometimes trying to listen to his ra-ra pump up speeches.

That advisor is an absolute saint. She deserves all the good things in life she gets. How the heck does she not have a man? I knwo she has a kid which might be a turnoff for some, but it's frickin scooba mississippi the talent out there can't be that high. She'd definitely be a catch for someone.

Teh rick james lookin guy that growled all the time was hilarious. I also really liked the maintenance man.

me too. I was glad to see the DC got the heck out of dodge when season was over. You could tell he was absolutely disgusted with the HC when he (the DC) said, "they could have killed DJ Law coach. Could have killed him and their coaches did nothing to stop it", then the HC said something like "Yeah. It happens". The look on the DC's face basically said what we'd all be thinking for 6 episodes "Are you serious?"

I don't have an issue with the verbiage. I have an issue with him completely rushing to judgment about it. I get that he was heated because that was a pretty big brawl and they cost themselves the rest of their season. But as video showed, they were simply defending their teammate.

It's clear that the other guys were definitely teh instigators. They were also the ones throwing helmets, throwing trash cans, stomping on DJ Law, hit the trainer pre-game, etc. That team absolutely started everythign.

HOWEVER, I dno't blame buddy for being pissed in the lockerroom after. He told them REPEATEDLY, many, MANY times, that they were going to goad them into fighting and not to do it. He told them their season could be ended by fighting. He told them they had nothing to lose and were going to intentionally try to bait EM into fighting. And he told them, time after time after time, DO NOT FIGHT BACK.

And within seconds of DJ and the other dude throwing a casual arm out/push at each other, both benches cleared.

I get there's something to be said for protecting your own and not being a pansy and all that, but ffs he told them about 50 times not to fight and they did it anyway. I can understand him being pissed.

the way I saw it, they took a really bad cheap shot on DJ. He retaliated by punching the player that did it. The all hell broke loose. He warned them about this. If DJ had not hit the other player, nothing happens. I'm not saying DJ wasn't justified, but the brawl was still avoidable. I actually put most of the blame on the coach. They were up 48-0 going into half. There is no argument to be made that he needed to score one more TD before HALFTIME for votes in the poll. They were going to put up 70+ regardless. One TD wouldn't have changed anything.

Think size also had something to do with it with DJ Law.

Also hilarious: the backup QB gets signed by auburn but nobody cares about the starting QB.....
