The cops didn't even arrest the two none football players in the car, yet you think the players received preferential treatment? I mean they had them all on possession of weed. Why were the other two let go?

Less than 1 gram of pot will never be prosecuted. 1 oz = 28 grams. There is just not enough to bother with.
I want to see the judge who would go forward with that case against 4 Poeple.

I really don't care that he let Alabama players off, the legal system should be blind to things like this. His comment is just lol worthy.

What I am saying is, if I got pulled over with weed of any volume and a stolen firearm in the vehicle I'm going to jail. All I want is consistency and a DA throwing his hands up and saying oh well, and then dropping the dumbest line in the history of DA's is inexcusable.
I hope Cam learned his lesson on this. Dude has a huge future if he walks the strait and narrow.

No, not if the reason they saw the small bit of weed and gun that you purchased without knowledge of it being stolen is because they searched your vehicle illegally.
If that happened, you would have a halfway decent lawyer (I assume), he would figure this out, present it to the judge and my GUESS is that the judge would dismiss the case because he'd know his best evidence was going to get tossed out.
It's pretty simple stuff. You can say they got lucky, that's fine, but this isn't some sort of legal fooey hooey. It's pretty simple.

They went to jail - or at least the two football players went to jail.

Now that it has come out that there were others in the car that weren't arrested and a very small amount of pot, he almost certainly realized he had some serious problems with the case. Charges are dismissed for this reason all the time, they just don't make the news.

You're not going to get any disagreement from me there.

. Look at this board. Not all, but most Alabama fans since the decision came out have basically laughed heartedly at the decision and displayed symbolic uncomplimentary hand gestures laughing that nothing is going to get in their way of another title.
Yeah. Nothing was ever posted before the decision to provoke such a response either. Stay off the worldwide web you old geezer. You will never understand how it works.

So let me get this straight...
a Minor in Possession of alcohol in the State of Georgia receives 40 hours of community service, a several hundred dollar fine, 6 months probation with monthly reporting to a probation officer with any violations potentially resulting in an arrest warrant, and also a Drug-Alcohol/Counseling screening costing appx $200
Vs
Possession of marijuana (not sure if it was misdemeanor or felony amount but already objectively worse of an offense in that alcohol is legal above a certain age in Georgia whereas marijuana is currently not legalized) + possession of a stolen Glock handgun gets you 20 less hours of community service, "26 hours of ride-along service with Northpoint Police Dept" (was that part a joke? They're really going to learn their lesson now), weekly urine tests, drug counseling. Okay, I'm sure they have probation conditions but..
It seems the punishment is on-par with a Minor in Possession of alcohol. This was absolutely preferential treatment. White, black, green, doesn't matter. If that's you, me, or just about anyone else carrying weed and packing heat in a parking lot in the middle of the night, 101% prosecuted. 101%. I sweat too.
You can't beat *the* air conditioning. He is above 80 years old right? Probably one of those people that shouldn't be operating a motor vehicle at this point in time.

Correct, but it was a legal search due to the fact that the cop swore and affidavit that he detected a strong odor of marijuana and saw a gun on someone's lap. Gun + weed = felony.

Where the hell does this happen. I got arrested for minor in possession of alcohol back in 1993 in Alabama and went to court and paid a $200 fine. I didn't have to do all that crap.

Many counties have a diversionary system now so that minors have the opportunity to avoid having a misdemeanor on their record.

That has nothing to do with whether or not it was a legal search. the cop swore he smelled the weed. That's all he needs to conduct a lawful search.
That he found weed and guns means that a felony was being committed. It doesn't matter how much weed in Louisiana, it can just be the resin in your bowl, and it counts as possession of a dangerous controlled substance.
A ridiculous as that may be, it is still the law. And when these laws were being pushed down our throats, we were all told, "We are a nation of laws, don't do the crime if you can't do the time."
It's clear that a felony was committed.
But it's all about the air-conditioning.

Where was that when your boy said:

...?
I didn't really think those boys were going to get in any serious trouble, but I was looking forward to see where the acquittal was going to come from. But when the DA opened his mouth and air-conditioning came out, I 'd.
Look, I resented getting into trouble that football players would've gotten out of when I was in school. It's not just about Alabama.

Sort of. Since it is for minors, the parents technically get to decide whether their kids participate or not.
