Tuscaloosa News editorial This was in today's Tuscaloosa News. Not Baton Rouge Advocate, Auburn-Opelika News or Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Now, hopefully these goofballs will learn their lesson. With that said the hystrionics from the Gump Nation yesterday about opponents 'melting', "there was nothing there" ,etc , the whole episode looks bad.

I don't think anyone wanted or expected jail time. And with Saban's history of leninecy I'm sure these boys will have to run an extra lap or two when fall camp starts.

But honestly Alabama fans, if an LSU,Auburn or Tennessee player had been in the same situation you wouldn't think something appeared out of sorts?

Lol no. Just being honest. Sports fans don't usually keep things in perspective. We want good things to happen the teams we root for, and like to make fun of others when bad shite does happen.

I wonder how long before DA Jerry Jones steps down after making one of the most boneheaded commitment I have ever heard come out of a DA's mouth!

Two different events but wasn't Jordan Jefferson arrested and the grand jury cleared him and other players. Didn't that 5 star enroll into MSU after beating a woman. Don't act like this shite doesn't eventually happen to everyone.

IMO the DA's statement are not about Bama to me. I expected those players to not have anything happen...

But the statement from the DA made me think the Missouri football team threatened to boycott a game if the Cam & Hootie show wasn't allowed to roll on

At least the DA will be getting a ESPY next year for his SJW actions

First of all, my take on this entire incident comes from a sports fan perspective. LSU fans have forever whined and moaned about Alabama getting preferential treatment (refs, SEC home office, NCAA, etc.) regarding anything pertaining to college football. For this reason, I've looked forward to the final disposition of this case. I was relatively sure that 2 kids (1st time offenders, regardless of race) wouldn't be actually incarcerated on the charges, but with the incident coming down in the state of Louisiana, LSU folks would be put into a lose-lose situation with any negative comments that they would undoubtedly have....and they couldn't help themselves when it came to making comments. .
Personally, I'd like to see them suspended for some games and have some privileges taken from them along with the "extra curricular" conditioning I'm sure they'll be subjected to.

They got credit for sweat equity already you want them to reload the reserve?

I was with you until here. There were just as many opposing fans hoping for the hammer to be dropped on Robinson and Jones as there were Alabama fans hoping the opposite. Nature of fandom. We would all reverse roles if the teams switched.

Louisiana local DA made an absolutely idiotic statement yesterday that has rightfully stirred this up much more than it would have been had he said nothing and let the official documents speak for themselves - "declined to prosecute due to insufficient evidence."

My whole position on the pot is a complete lack of care. Every study into the War on Drugs has come back saying it's a complete failure. Guns? Ehh I'm actually pretty lenient on guns. You want to own one? Go for it. Now stolen guns can run you afoul of some serious federal laws, but I digress.

The thing you have to remember is that these were victimless crimes. There is no crying woman who didn't receive justice and no beat up people who had been robbed. At the end of the day two guys didn't get charged and no one was harmed by it.

I wouldn't want major punishment for any player on any team if they committed a non-violent crime. There are far more pressing issues to concern yourself with than weed and being in possession of a stolen gun that you purchased.

And MSU took a metric ton of shite for it. And most of their reasonable fans expressed some trepidation of the move. I don't think anyone expects Saban will punish the guys but I think people expect Bama fans who truly believe Saban is any different than other slimy coaches to recognize the reality around them.

Jeremy Hill was on probation at the time that he blind side punched a guy. He was given community service for his second crime despite violating his probation terms. Do you think most people who violate their probation terms end up with community service?

And Jeremy Hill's actions could have seriously impacted his victim. I've worked with TBI patients who were never the same after a knockout punch.

Glass houses and such.

Well said. Look at this board. Not all, but most Alabama fans since the decision came out have basically laughed heartedly at the decision and displayed symbolic uncomplimentary hand gestures laughing that nothing is going to get in their way of another title.

Well, he's in his 5th consecutive 6 year elected term. He's got 4 years left on this term, which he won as an unopposed candidate. I'd say after being in his current role in his current location for 26 years, the people who elect him either A) know exactly who he is and elect him b/c they agree with who he is, or B) haven't paid attention for 26 years and aren't going to start now.

Either way, he's 69 years old. I doubt he'll be in the role more than 4 more years.

The players weren't charged with any crime. Not a single person on this board knows what happened, or how it happened. The only info anyone has on this comes directly from the DAs office, which has decided not to prosecute. You people are so mad because of this perceived injustice you have based on so little information. Then you sit there an scold people who don't jump to the same conclusions as you. It is laughable. If some of you truly believe the University of Alabama has some random DA in Louisiana in their back pocket, there is no help for you. Why even attempt a decent conversation?

I hate the exposure it gives our legal system that is flawed. Take away what college team these two young men played for they would have likely gotten preferential treatment because they were college students making something of themselves.

Now lets talk about the DA- simply put they realized it wasn't a good arrest and they didn't have good enough evidence to bring a charge. Why muddy the water with how hard the work at practice? Horribly stupid statement.

Now lets talk about Cam and Hootie- how dumb can you be? I grew up in Monroe. Forsythe Park is heavily monitored. I am glad this didn't throw them off what I hope is a college degree for both and NFL future for Cam, but it was a really stupid move.

All I know is how stupid this statement is for the reason to drop the changes. Sets a bad precedent.

quote:

"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning,”

I think they should both be kicked off the team. Done. Move on.

Why? Because it sends the wrong message to the team. Now there will be homers who chime in "It sends the wrong message to turn your back on a young man who makes a mistake." And I would argue that keeping such a stupid-assed player on your team will be a cancer in the locker room.

But hey, whatever...
