UT is going to be the prohibitive favorite. UGA is being overlooked and expectations are not a challenge. A new coach brings a new energy which is sometimes the main ingredient missing (see AU 2013, UF 2015). UT is going to choke because, with the rare exception of Bama, when a school is not used to dealing with the pressure of expectations, it rarely works out (see AU 2014).

UGA has the talent, a salty defense and defensive coaching staff, and by all accounts this kid at QB is the real Mccoy, and if Chubb comes back healthy.... Couple that with a very easy schedule (soft road schedule with only Ole Miss and UF as tough games) where they get AU and UT at home

I think if Kirby were in year two or three, we'd be considered co-favorite with UTk. But there are just too many unknowns between Kirby being a new HC and Eason being a new QB to say with any level of confidence that we're going to win the division.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we did but I'm not about to go predicting that we will.

In Georgia's favor, Chaney is an excellent coach and will do well with the talented young QB.

Not in Georgia's favor...when was the last time a true Freshman QB won a division title?

For those who were thinking Wuerffel...he redshirted in '92.

Unless I'm missing someone...a True Freshman has never led a team to a division title. This year won't be the first time it happens.

No it isn't.

First year HC (At any level not just at the UGA job)
True Freshmen QB (No matter how talented)
New philosophies on both sides of the ball.

I see several reason that the East does NOT setup for them this year.

I've actually got them coming in at 3rd behind UT and UF.

UGA not playing on that shitty field in Tennessee this year is beneficial.

UGA with a freshman QB will have a tough road.

Not with a FR QB and new HC.

In fact, I expect them to struggle some what. 8-9 wins

Depends on if Kirby is any good as a head coach.

I'm gonna agree with you, but if that happens Kirby may have no way to go but down.

Kirby will get the players, I just don't know if he will be a great Head Coach.

Which, of course, means that they won't.
