But don't blame posters on this board for commenting on content that our basketball team is giving us.
It's one thing to reply expressing your feelings about AU canceling practice. It's another to completely derail the BBall thread trying to win an internet argument unrelated to AU basketball in this thread.
If you want to join in the Internet courtroom arena for some battle Royale, there are plenty of better threads for keyboard warriors
Let's not pretend like anyone in this thread talking about knifes and gunshots are still posting with the intent to keep it relevant to AU bball instead of winning an argument v an internet stranger

Ross & Rig, can we get a cleanup in the BBall thread please? just delete the off topic posts.

Also to note, these sports teams not practicing is not due to the Jacob Blake shooting, but in a response to general discrimination and unjust treatment by law enforcement.
So anyone who is trying to analyse the Jacob Blake shooting and use it as a means to discount these protests isn't getting the point.

Oh DID HE?!
quote:
The Wisconsin Department of Justice Wednesday evening named the officer who shot Jacob Blake and provided additional information about the shooting.
Blake had a knife on the driver's side floorboard and had no other weapons, the DOJ said in a news release.
The officer who shot Blake seven times is Rusten Sheskey, on the Kenosha police force for seven years. He has been placed on administrative leave.
If you want THE FACTS, read here yourself
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

You also need to follow up with your info. It now looks like he may still have had the knife while scuffling with the police BEFORE he tried to enter his vehicle.
In other words...it's still up in the air.
The department said Blake admitted to agents he had a knife and they found one on the driver's side floorboard of the SUV Blake was trying to enter. But it was unclear from the statement when Blake had the knife — or whether two knives were being referenced —and officials declined to elaborate.
Video taken by onlookers shows something in Blake’s hand but it is grainy and difficult to make out. The man who made the widely shared cellphone video of the shooting said he heard officers yell, “Drop the knife! Drop the knife!” but he said he didn’t see a knife in Blake’s hands.
Blake's attorneys have said witnesses did not see a knife.
There is no body camera video because Kenosha police do not have body cams.
An attorney for the Kenosha police union issued a statement Friday saying Blake did have a knife and officers followed protocol in escalating force.

Another thread bites the dust

You are wrong. Gus completely said it was because of the shooting. Bruce said it was because of disturbing things going on across the country and also said they skipped practice in solidarity. Just a coincidence that day was on the shooting of the Blake guy. No one is on here promoting a candidate so not sure why you guys keep saying it’s political. It’s cultural and that culture has infected all of sports, including our basketball and football teams.
AuNashville what discrimination by LEO’s? Almost every shooting has been justified and will be either thrown out of court or found not guilty because the evidence is on the side of the police. And please stop this ignorance that black people are being hunted down by the police anyone with half a brain can search the statistics and find that completely untrue. There is also no white privilege nor is there any systemic racism since the early 70’s. Are there racist people absolutely but there always have been and always will be.
So AU Nashville you seem up on the details of these cases give me one example of these recent Injustices by law enforcement?

These morons are going to continue to cry police brutality and racism. It is a pointless battle. This will now happen every time a black person is shot by police.
Boycotts, protests, virtue signaling. Bla bla bla...
Police are going to continue shooting people of all races. It happens. People shoot police officers, too.
People of all races are shot by police, there just isn't national outrage when it happens to anyone but the blacks (mostly white people are shot by police because they make up the highest percentage of our population).
This is all bullshite. If you get on board with this "police hunting blacks" narrative then you are deranged. Just look at the stats...

Black men are 2.5 times more likely than white men to be killed by police during their lifetime.
https://www.pnas.org/content/116/34/16793
Black people who were fatally shot by police seemed to be twice as likely as white people to be unarmed
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/1745-9133.12269
Also, the explanation from the BB team included the following While our players and coaches feel safe and protected by our law enforcement officers in the Auburn Community, we also recognize that doesn't exist for everyone, everywhere in our country.

Why not ask why that might happen?
50% of all violent crime is committed by 6% of the population.
Last year as mentioned so many times of unarmed individuals shot by police 19 white 9 black 7 Latino 4 other. Millions upon millions of police interactions. I’m sorry facts hurt your feelings but facts are facts. Is the percentages equal to the exact population percentages? No but neither is the crimes. I’m sure there are bad cops and even racist cops. But to say systemic is absurd.
Do any of you fools even know what color I am?

Who are the double sport recruits that both Gus and Bruce want?

Gene's fault, cause he is an a-hole.

Idk. These recruits always feel like mythical creatures though
We hear this pitch so often being made but who was the last true two sport athlete? Someone who actually contributed in two primary sports (not including track)
Posted on 9/1/20 at 2:39 pm to GenesChin
Arkansas had a guy named Marcus Monk I believe who contributed in both basketball and football...if memory serves me correct.
