who was the last true two sport athlete

Shenker? Played football and baseball last year, but wasn't really a starter for either and was only recruited for football.

The other recent one coming to mind is Jameis Winston. He played football and baseball at FSU, but quit baseball after his freshman year.

I originally was talking AU specifically

but it sounds like a legit discussion for the wider CFB/CBB scene too

Kyler Murray at OU was probably the last great two sport guy. Drafted high in both sports (football/baseball).

At Auburn, I am drawing a blank as far as recently. Gabe Gross is the first that comes to mind. Starting QB, MLB draft pick. He played like 20 years ago now...

Basketball/Football would be Donovan McNabb at Cuse and Julius Peppers at UNC. Two notables.

That's what is weird to me. Feels like every year we talk about making this pitch to a recruitI. can't even think of a two sport athlete that doesn't do track

Or maybe I'm getting to the "every year blends together" stage of life .......... Pass the Don Julio Lanier

247 has a new article out about each of the newcomers. Brief summary of each player. Should have another article about where the returners are at this point.

Cardwell biggest surprise. Moves well for his size and will fit in nicely alongside Akingbola at the 5.

Sharife it's pretty much all been said. He can ball. Looking to get stronger and better defensively

Moore playing the 3 and 4. Has a lot better outside shot than he had shown. Athletic and strong.

Powell big guard with range well out past the 3pt line. Very high basketball IQ. Working at the 1 and 2. Hopeful that he can provide minutes at both this season.

Thor has an extremely high ceiling. Needs to add weight and strength but everything else is there. Can play effectively inside and out

Got the new 2k21 when it came out a couple days ago, Chuma STILL isn't on the Magic's roster

I just want to play with an Auburn player, goddammit.

I really wish 2k would just donate whatever money it is that Barkley wants so he'll allow his likeness on the game. The color commenting has always been lacking on 2k without him in the mix, but I want him on some all-time teams as well

The update on the returners isn't really that informative. The only thing newsworthy I could glean from it was Jaylin didn't have access to any proper training equipment and came back out of shape from the layoff and Cambridge must not have been shooting and is trying to re-find his outside shot. Little disconcerting with Devin. He really needed to completely rework his form if he hopes to be anything resembling consistent.

ETA Turbo is working almost exclusively at the 2 so it's seeming like Powell or a walkon backing up Cooper at PG.

That makes sense w Turbo at 2. Even though we only saw a fraction of him play, he seemed uncomfortable running the point.
I have a feeling Powell, if he can protect the basket, was a good distributor in HS, so maybe the PG is a good spot for him for now...

Same here. The worry with Powell especially at 6'6 is against the small quick guards. I think he'll be fine offensively.

Any idea what his wingspan is like? If he is at 6'9+ he should be able to hang through length with small quick college guards if he has sound fundamentals

LINK

This rule may give player handlers even more clout. May help with our team dad/ Isaac Okoro’s agent Omar Cooper.

Jboy and posse locks in their predictions.

JD Davison to Auburn.

Also, Davison tweeted save the date of Halloween. Could be a big day for us.

It would be great to have 2 great guards come next year.

I only worry about the following until signing day:

+ pressure always on the Top Alabama player going to Alabama + transfers to Nike AAU circuit which we don't have any
connection to as an Under Armour school
