whole story is unusual for sure but the lack of info isn't that atypical from the way saban does things. runs a tight ship. like i said, I'm sure we'll get some kind of formal response to the story this week with a bit more info
No doubt. It's just odd that there hasn't even been rumors leaked. I'm guessing Saban feels there's a good chance it's a minimal suspension, in the end, since he's letting him practice.

Not if it is a failed drug test. The NCAA suggested language for release (page 12 in this document) is:
Like I said above, I'm assuming Saban and the AD think Brown's suspension will be minimal. Have there been rumors that Brown had issues with drugs/PEDs before?

Pretty fair. Everybody here lives on a glass house and will defend it with rocks unfortunately.
No shite. I mean we have people on here who have 20,000+ posts and then make fun of other fan bases for caring too much about college football.

I don't recall anything ever connected to him re; drugs. Guy was in Saban's doghouse most of last year though....he has been practicing mostly with the 1's all spring. Saban and the University are appealing so it doesn't seem too bad. Maybe an issue connected from the playoff incident when he got sent home from the MSU game.

Glad we dodged that bullet. Kid is a nightmare

No drug rumors, but the kid's shown himself to pretty much be an all-around dumbarse. He's seemingly been in some kind of trouble since the day he arrived.
If the problem's a failed NCAA drug test then there's no way the suspension will be minimal. The NCAA bylaws mandate 50% of the games for recreational and a calendar year for PEDs.

He'll sit out this year, probably. This was known about in January, though. This is nothing new to the staff.
He's actually been behaving like the model citizen since the "code red" (where his teammates beat him up) in January. Who knows? He's at about the same point Drake was before the light bulb came on for him. He may continue to be a headcase, or he may turn it around like a lot of guys have under Saban.

Sounds like a drug issue. The fact that UA is appealing the suspension makes me think he was on some performance enhancers....sort of like the UF qb last year? At this point, you just have to accept that Tony isn't very bright...all the talent in the world but sheesh. Luckily for him, he has two years left to get his act together and prevent being a total bust. Up to him.

Typical Bama player. I don't see what's surprising?

fast-forward two years it looks like 2/5 was actually a good thing!Who would've thought it at the time

You can always tell who the most butthurt Bama haters are by how they mention Saban's height. Hell Napoleon conquered much of the world and many of your favorite actors are well under six feet tall but it just shows a special and petty butthurt that has nothing to do with football and makes me laugh every time.

Sorry Speedy Noil is still on our team and Trey Quinn had to transfer.
A quick history search shows this seems to be a sensitive issue for you. Enjoy watching Noil snag touchdowns this fall.
Have a good one
the funniest part is that Noil has impressed so little that you've been left comparing him to Trey Quinn. Two years ago "Noil was the #1 receiver in the country, not Malachi Dupre!"

Noil has at least played and produced.. But yes, he is a knucklehead.
Guy from my hood on the A&M team said if Speedy makes it 3 yrs it'll be a miracle.

Didn't Tony run track this year? If it was something to do with PEDs, I would think that he wouldn't have been able to do that either.
My guess is its an amateurism issue for football.
Now if he didn't run track....never mind, I have no idea.

Using this language makes it sound like something it wasn't. It was a fight at practice and, since players were tired of some of his shite, no one ran to help him. It wasn't some organized thing, dude.

Yeah, no. Drake was never in any NCAA suspension risk. Drake's issues were related to missing classes, missing a couple of workouts, and an arrest for crossing police tape to go to his car (which was ignoring instructions not to). Drake made several stupid mistakes, but he never got into issues with teammates or the NCAA. Drake and Brown aren't comparable.
