Are Kentucky people getting restless?

Obviously I don't mean "FAHR CAL!", and Kentucky has had insane success under Cal in his 7 seasons
- 217 wins (31-7 average season)
- 82% winning percentage
- 95-25 SEC record (14-4 average season)
- 3 NCAA Final Fours
- 4 SECT Championships
- 3 SEC Regular Season Championships
- 18 1st round picks
- 5 Top 5 picks
But with all of that success they have only brought home 1 National Championship. Now, anywhere else in the SEC (or for that matter the country) I don't think there would be a shred of disappointment with those numbers. But this is Kentucky, and Kentucky expects to win national championships. And, they are now stuck on 1 in the Cal era in which NBA players have been in and out the door every year.
It isn't a fair comparison because the sports are so different, but the oft compared football version of Cal, Nick Saban, has 4 national championships in 9 years.
What is the overall feeling of Big Blue Nation? What should be the overall feeling?

I think that talent superiority gets you much farther in football than basketball. Just because you are good doesn't mean you are even getting to the second round of the tournament i.e. Michigan State.

The real question: who cares about ky?

The NCAA would have to punish them in order for them to be restless.

We've been a 1 seed 3 times in 7 years. If this were football that would mean we would have been in the championship game 3 times.
You get a month to prepare for one opponent in football. Then a subsequent week for the second one. They wait 24 hours before even selecting the four teams officially. You get three or four days depending, to prepare for your first opponent and then a day off before number two. Thy don't even wait 12 hours to pick 68 teams in basketball.
Cal is doing fine.

My UK buddy who is a die hard said the fanbase still loves Cal and he is actually worried he'll leave for an NBA gig to coach Lebron James.
The two are good friends and the Cavs seem to have a coaching revolving door with Lebron having a lot of say in who the coach is.

It is very hard to win with multiple freshman based teams every season.
Calipari has done a hell of a job.
The only thing UK fans should be pissed about is not winning it all last season.
That team had no business losing to Wisconsin.

Football is a simpler game than basketball. A stacked-with-talent Bama football team is more likely to win a 4-team playoff than is a stacked-with-talent UK basketball team in a 68-team tournament.
Last year proves that. Bama had to play only two games within 11 days. UK played 5 games within 15 days. Basketball is an aerobic sport and players are more exhausted after a game.
Young players, even those with great talent, take longer to adjust to the faster-paced game of basketball when they transition to the college level, especially mentally. In today's one-and-done game there is far more pressure to mature faster.
That doesn't happen overnight for every player. Anthony Davis is the exception. Skal Labissiere is the norm.
That's not true in football. Talented freshmen have time to adjust to their new environment, depending on upper classmen to carry the load while they adjust.
Imagine a Bama football program rotating players in and out as fast as does the UK basketball program. They might be a tad more successful because of the less demanding requirements of football but the results would not be similar to what they are now for Bama.
Considering everything, I think Coach Cal is superbly matched to the college game as it exists today. Obviously, Saban is equivalently matched with college football.
Coach Cal has said he will retire from UK. I hope he has many more years with us. Having placed his son on the team, I think we're guaranteed at least four more years.

I'm disappointed over previous seasons than this season, although losing to IU is painful to say the least.
With Cal's way of doing this, this is what you get. Most of the time, your most talented players are freshmen, and sometimes you face an senior led team like IU and you tighten up toward the end, and you lose.
With all the talent that has come thru in the Cal era I would have thought we should have more national titles. Should have won in 2009, made it to the final four in 2011 which was unexpected, but ended up being the most talented team there and lost. In 2014 the season was average, but surprisingly made it to the title game, and again lost to a less talented team.
Last year had the most talent ever on one team and still didn't win.
No question Cal has done great things, but we should have at least four titles in the seven years, and we have one. I'm disappointed, but Cal and his coaches do amazing things in recruiting, so with the way the NCAA and the NBA handle freshmen, it's just the way it works. It's not just UK, any top talent will leave after one year. The money is too great.

People will look back and say how in the world did he not win with Wall, Bledsoe, and Cousins and then again with Towns, Lyles, Booker, Cauley-Stein etc.
Overrated.
Overrated.

Didn't they just have a team have one of the best seasons EVER in consideration to be one of the best teams to ever play?
