I get more enjoyment watching Auburn fans 180 so hard on him they could snap their necks, then I do Johnson's poor play.

C'mon. College football is no longer "amateur athletics." If you're going to get the accolades you get the derision as well.
I've shite on JJ's performance tons, but I'm not going to revel in the fact that his downfall is officially complete. JJ has no swag, hasn't sought any attention or engaged in any attention-seeking behavior.
It's an interesting and newsworthy scenario, but not one I'd get off on as a rival fan.

I know there have been plenty since then, but back when the flagship wasn't much more than a canoe, Mitch Mustain sure did get a lot of hype on tigerdroppings. Still he wasn't remotely as bad as Johnson.
Brent Schaeffer is another classic bust
I feel like Tennessee has had a handful of overhyped qbs
There's Kiehl Frazier too of course. Did Zeke pike even play a down at Auburn?
We LSU fans thought Shepard was going to be the LSU qb savior, but he at least turned out to be a good receiver.
Of the top of my head Jeremy Johnson is in a league of his own

Even your fellow Bama fans were defending him this summer
yep, a ton of them were touting him as well.
i do kinda feel bad for him tho. i mean it can't be easy to have that much spotlight and just fall so hard.
but i love it for gus and auburn fans.

Some really shitty people (Patton, mostly) seem to be really enjoying a young man's fall from grace that has nothing to do with his character.
If he has all the ability and skill to be good and didn't come close to reaching his potential due to a lack of effort, then that does have a lot to do with his character

Yes because Auburn fans never flame SEC rival players that fail to meet expectations on the field.

You think he might look good in practice because he's going against your defense?

Maybe. Most of us aren't the types that thrive in the biggest settings. While he obviously may be lacking some fortitude if he can't live up to his own potential, I don't think that is something I'm going to throw stones on when he's otherwise a very high-character individual.

That's unfair to Kenny. Trill played a few good games

Yeah, but some of that is on his coaches. They built him up as well.
Oh, I agree, I just know that when they had voluntary workouts and what not he all too often chose to skip them. I just wonder how much it would have helped him.
And the media for pumping him up when he had played in just a handful of games.

Not a player, but the 2000 Alabama football team comes to mind.
Freddie Milons. Pre-season Heisman hype. Returned the first punt of the season for a TD against UCLA. Then fell off the face of the planet with the rest of the 2000 UA team.

He does not play his position very well.
