The member known to you as Ashman was my father and he has passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 46. I type this with tears in my eyes, but I am sure he would have wanted you all to know. He loved the Fark board, and he would always share his work with me, as well as some of his favorites submitted by others here. He got into photo-shopping because of the creativity and humor in it. I suspect it also took his mind off of the pain I am sure he was enduring, although he would never complain. I offer my sincerest thanks to all who engaged with or shared a post or a laugh with my dad. If you don’t mind, I would like to share a few words about him.
He raised my brother and I by himself since I was eight and my brother was three (we are now 26 and 21). He had no help from our mother who is not in our lives, but he more than made up for that fact. We never wanted for anything, and he was always there for us no matter what. He was a kind and caring man with a generous spirit. He owned his own business until he sold it and retired a couple of years ago. Over the years, he provided jobs for thousands of people. It brought him great joy knowing he was helping others to support their family or improve their station in life.
My dad loved The University of Alabama and Crimson Tide football. He got his degree from there, and was on the scout team. He always joked that he was the “Rudy” of the south.
We traveled a lot. My brother and I are fortunate to have been in all fifty states and seven countries. One year when I was in high school, we packed up the day the school year ended and didn’t return home for the entire summer. We traveled all across the country and got back just in time for the new school year to begin. We have a lifetime of memories just from that trip.
I know my dad would wish health and happiness to all of you and your families. He would want you to enjoy each day of your life, and maybe have a thick steak and a cold beer for him. To those of you reading this, thank you so much for indulging me. It helps me to talk about him. Every good thing I am is because of him. He was a blessing to many, but none more so than my brother and I. We are really going to miss him.
God bless you all.
Signing off for Ashman.

As a player, it's your last game at any level. I still remember that crushing feeling as my team lost its last high school game. Fortunately for me, my team won our last college game - losing that one would have been almost unbearable I'm sure.
