Jermey Johnson went from being a near God in the eyes of Aubie faithful to riding the pine after three weeks in favor of a short white kid who's only other major offer was Cincy. It wasn't just Aubies either. National talking heads, rival fanbases, every where you looked nearly everyone had this kid as being a lock to be at least invited to NY. How did this happen? I almost feel bad for the guy.

Apparently he looks good in practice. He looked good picking apart Arkansas in 2014. Nobody knows what the heck happened with this.

At least he has the Kenny Trill Trophy on his shelf now.

He didn't do the things he needed to do this summer to improve. He bought into his own hype. Not that it would have helped him that much but damn.

Why? He's in this position because the media, fans, and his coaches juiced every ounce of hype out of him they could

It's perplexing. He looked pretty good in the few starts he had last year and I really did believe the preseason hype on him.

Yeah, but some of that is on his coaches. They built him up as well.

I would say Trill but he didn't get nearly as much preseason hype.

Some really shitty people (Patton, mostly) seem to be really enjoying a young man's fall from grace that has nothing to do with his character.

Not a player, but the 2000 Alabama football team comes to mind.

Even your fellow Bama fans were defending him this summer

I think it's less that JJ is bad but more than Sean White is that good.

C'mon. College football is no longer "amateur athletics." If you're going to get the accolades you get the derision as well.
