That's not true at all.

I think it refers to home and home (Illustration only below)

LSU @ OU = 0 dollars for LSU
OU @ LSU = 10 million for LSU
divide by 2 and LSU averages 5 million per year

LSU plays OU in Chick Fil A and gets 8 million
LSU plays USC in JerryWorld and gets 8 million
divide by 2 and LSU averages 8 million per year

Teams need to think more about where they play neutral site games. Houton for LSU worked great, Green Bay for Wisconsin works too. If LSU played say Clemson in Orlando, tickets would not sell.

Last season's LSU/Wisconsin Texas Kickoff classic attendance doubled the previous year's attendance.

2014 LSU v Wisconsin 71,599
2013 Miss. St v OK St. 35,874

If LSU is getting $8 million for a neutral site game, then they are doing a heck of a job negotiating their deals.

I think $3-5 million is more typical. Even on the low end, AD's calculate that two of those will meet or exceed a home game, and that they effectively get to fleece season ticket buyers for an extra game that is not included in their season ticket package. However, get that revenue down around $2 million and the math just doesn't work. Hopefully, teams will get concerned about this, and about having an attractive home schedule, and make the decision to schedule some quality home and home series.

As to A&M-Arkansas, that deal with Jerry can't end soon enough to me. My one fear whenever folks talk about going to a 9 game schedule is that this would give the schools an excuse to keep this series as a neutral site game.

Also, while not directly to the AD, home and homes generate community income for major games that will go to some neutral city otherwise. I'm guessing college towns hate the loss of revenue.

Neutral site games are the devil, especially at professional venues.

Atlanta is crawling with folks from all over the SEC and the ACC, thats why the game does better than the other places. The local tickets(which account for a significant percentage) dont flood the market with cheap prices.

The other disadvantage to these neutral site games is they dont put them in destination locations.

These games are cool for the players and recruits, not for the fans

Why would anyone play a neutral site that wasn't an NFL stadium.

LSU fans will travel very well to Lambeau Field in 2017.

I am going, always wanted to go to Lambeau but for a green bay game. I rather go to Madison for this game.

Going to Dallas in September sucks compared to going to Wisconsin in September. If i was Wisconsin fan i would be on the lake enjoying my labor day enjoying mid-80 days.

This is 100% the biggest issue. It makes no sense for Wisconsin to play in Texas back to back years, that's alot for their fanbase. Alabama has done a ton of neutral site stuff the past few years, I'm sure their fanbase is hitting the wall as well. At least for LSU we've done Houston which is an easy sell and everyone wants to see Lambeau.

Since they added an additional game to the regular season, the owns aren't really "missing" a game. Tuscaloosa still gets 7 home games, like it has over the past 10-15 years. That said, they's LOVE to replace a Middle Tenn St game with a Wisconsin game.

Are these games handled like bowl games as far as tickets? Do the schools have to buy X amount of tickets and it's up to the schools to sell them?

I know a lot of Bama fans are burned out on them. Last year's game with West Virginia in Atlanta, I had several friends begging people to buy their tickets for well below face value.

You do know the game will be indoors right?

Right answer.

Auburn-Louisville will probably be a packed house because of the proximity to both fan bases. Same thing will happen when Alabama and FSU open 2017 in Atlanta.

Neutral site matchups can work just fine, but only if they're close enough the fans can drive and at most spend one night in a hotel. People simply aren't going to spend the same money to travel for a season opener as they will for a bowl game.

Should be a home and home. Guaranteed sellouts.

However, money rules everything and the schools make more money by playing in 75% full neutral site stadiums in distant cities.

Lambeau is a great place to watch a game. Not a bad seat.

You can't spend all day in the stadium.
