Thank you for the unbiased opinion. Those were all sound logical opinions.
Those are the exact reasons Vol fans are excited. The ranters that bash Dobbs are scared sh!tless that he's actually going to be a solid QB

Someone is going to make millions off of Dobbs' Fatheads around Halloween.

some may very well be, others are just trying to let you dumbasses know that he's not that good

LMAO at comparing Dobbs to Jennings. Jennnings started 12 games for LSU and somehow finished with less passing yards, less rushing yards, and less TDs that Dobbs who only played in 6 games, starting 5.

Congrats on finding the one exception where Jennings was better. Seriously, good job by you.

Dobbs (2014 predicted)
Passing - 241/384 (62.7%) 2,613 YDS 20 TD 13 INT
Rushing - 225 ATT 1017 YDS 17 TDs (4.5 YPA)
Of course, this is a stupid extrapolation, because Dobbs played the following defenses (total defense ranked):
#12 Alabama (267 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT)
#94 South Carolina (467 YDS, 5 TD, 1 INT)
#77 Kentucky (345 YDS, 4 TD)
#23 Missouri (208 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT)
#70 Vanderbilt (183 YDS, 2 TD, 2 INT)
#22 Iowa (205 YDS, 3 TD 1 INT)
It looks like Dobbs made hay (812 YDS 9 TD 1 INT; 406 YPG, 4.5 TD/G, 0.5 INT/G) against two terrible defenses in SCAR and UK and then was pretty mediocre-to-bad against the rest of the schedule (863 YDS 8 TD 5 INT; 215.8 YPG, 2 TD/G, 1.2 INT/G).
To put it in perspective, Justin Worley (who was not a threat with his legs at all and whose per-game yardage average included -105 rushing yards) had the following game averages in the first 7 games:
210.6 YPG
2.1 TD/G
1.1 INT/G
Dobbs is an elite QB when he is playing against 2014 Kentucky and 2014 SCAR, and a mediocre-to-bad QB posting nearly the same game yardage and scoring as Justin Worley against everyone else.

He is just VERY VERY ugly which makes him a polarizing figure... Nothing special about him, with the exception that he is proof that aliens exist.

Well to start it off with, he put up 17 TDs and nearly 1700 yards against all power 5 opponents. That means he didn't pad his stats with the likes of Utah St, Arkansas St, and Chattanooga. He did it behind one of the worst OLs not just in the SEC, but the got damn country.
Case in point. Look what he did behind an awful OL, and then look what Christian Hackenberg did behind an awful OL. That's with a WR group in and out of the ER, and no running game to speak of until he provided it. UT was 92nd (13th in SEC) in rushing offense WITH the help of Dobbs. Without him, Hurd is not as effective, and they are more likely in the 120s. That's worst than Vandy.
At worst this year, he'll put up Nick Marshall numbers and around 63% completion. At optimum conditions (decent OL, no injuries to top 4 WRs, #1 TE) he's a 3000 yard passer, 1000 yard rusher, 40 TD player type of player.
MSU fan really talking about Dobbs? What about Prescott in his first real year starting? Go and look up the passing stats against LSU, USCe, TAMU, Ole Miss and Auburn. He passed for 2 TDs and 5 ints, combined against those guys. And his two TDs were against the 97th ranked pass defense of TAMU. His one time of over 5.8 ypa against those teams was 7.8 against Auburn. Oh, they were just the 102nd ranked pass defense.
His passing stats are padded by the bowl game against Rice. He also played against Alcorn St, and Troy to pad his stats even more.
So before MSU fan talks about Dobbs, remember what Prescott did his first year, and then look what he did in his second year.
To even make a comparison to how bad Jennings was with the help of playing against ULM, NMST, and FCS team SHSU, to Dobbs against all power 5, is asinine.

Ok, Legendary. Here are his rush stats vs. Mizzou in 2014 game AT ROCKY TOP.
17 attempts for 13 yards. .08 avg per rush. One HECK of a day there.
vols actually believe themselves and their hype. Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddd indeed.
Here's the real question...can Butch really coach??? We're gonna find out this year. But so far, his record does not impress.

I hate when LSU fans are this stupid. Harris played against FCS opponent SHSU, and the awful ULM and NMST. That is where nearly ALL of his production is from. His game against Auburn, tragic. His series against Wisconsin, turrible. His throw it up int against Kentuck, WTF? Now I will credit him for lighting it up against Miss St, but even UAB did that.
Give Dobbs the likes of Chattanooga, Utah st, and Arkansas St, and watch him rip through em like tissue paper. For reference, the guy before him Worley, his stats against them were 68% 718 yards (7.18 ypa) 8 TDs 1 int. That's what we call padding stats.

Dobbs' numbers multiplied over a full season.
All the more reason why Jones was an effing moron for trying to redshirt him. Not only did he squander a golden opportunity to break the Florida streak, he spotted Alabama a 2 TD lead by starting the Special Olympics kid before finally taking the redshirt off Dobbs. Even though he knew he was going to play Dobbs, he waited until he was down 13 to put him in...and Tennessee played Alabama even the rest of the way.
I'm not necessarily down on Dobbs as a QB, but the more you prop up Dobbs, the more of an imbecile it makes Jones for not playing him.
Posted on 8/20/15 at 10:59 am to BamaGradinTn
It's more complicated than that. Butch was trying to preserve his redshirt for the whole season. Partly because of his academics, partly because last year was basically a wash year (even though we ended up exceeding expectations by a little bit - because of Dobbs). Worley was supposed to stay healthy. When he got hurt and Peterman (obviously) couldn't hack it. He had to burn it.
