Even if you give Jones a pass for trying to redshirt him at the start of the season, everyone already knew Peterman was pathetic. It was stupid for Jones to start him against Alabama when you've already made the decision to play Dobbs in the game anyway.

Why was it so important to redshirt him? It made no sense. You would have had Dobbs for 2015 and 2016 regardless. So you're talking about whether or not you would still have Dobbs in 2017. Did Jones honestly think he couldn't recruit and develop another QB between now and then? Tennessee would have almost certainly beaten Florida and possibly would have come closer to Alabama. A win over Florida last year would have been the biggest shot in the arm Jones could have given that program, and he blew it.

That's what we call 4.3 speed at the QB position folks

I will bet you any amount of money that Josh Dodds can not run a 4.3 40.

Dobbs parents asked him to be redshirted last year due to academics and that was the agreement going into the season. It changed. Thankfully.

20 td 13 int : mediocre but would have ranked him 51st in the country
2700 yards: mediocre
1000 rushing yards: Elite
18 rushing TDs: Heisman Level

The issue is, his rushing is only average so he would get decent totals from a large # of attempts, and taking a large % of red zone opportunities. He averages less than 7 yards per pass and 4.5 yards per rush which isn't bad at all for a running back, but it's actually pretty mediocre for a running quarterback.

Then you realize he would have put up 3800 yards and 38 TDs behind one of the worst OLs in the country with WRs being injured left and right as a true sophomore. Those are heisman numbers.

Do you not understand just how hard it is to play behind a terrible OL?

I don't disagree with this, but you have to realize the competition that he played against. Not exactly world beaters.

it was important to his family, and Worley was supposed to stay healthy for the year, I don't know what else to tell you.

He played the SEC champ, the SECE champ, 3 other SEC teams and Iowa. Even though the other SEC teams he played against were not exactly awesome, they are still head and shoulders better than UT Martin, North Texas, Mkneese St, etc that most other QBs had to pad their stats against.

Everyone forgets UTs schedule is front loaded with tougher games and back loaded with easier games such Vandy (which still made him crap his pants), UK, USCe (with bad inexperienced def)...you cant compare the stats.

He will get a chance to himself against OU and UF and we have a very stout defense...good luck. UF will truck his young azz in the Swamp. 11 in a row.

Taken from another poster ona different site:

The Dobbs part of 2014 included Alabama and Mizzou, two of the five ranked teams we played.

The Worley part had Ole Miss, Georgia, and Oklahoma, the other three.

The Dobbs half had Vandy and Kentucky, yes. But...

The Worley half had Utah State, Arkansas State, and Chattanooga.

The Dobbs half had two peer challenges in the form of USCe and Iowa.

The Worley half had one peer challenge, the Gators.

Sum total == 3 tough games, 1 peer, and 3 cupcakes in the Worley half ... 2 tough games, 2 peers, and 2 cupcakes in the Dobbs half.

It was a pretty balanced year. We were better in the 2nd half of the year because we were better, not because our opponents were worse.

Well to start it off with, he put up 17 TDs and nearly 1700 yards against all power 5 opponents. That means he didn't pad his stats with the likes of Utah St, Arkansas St, and Chattanooga. He did it behind one of the worst OLs not just in the SEC, but the got damn country. Case in point. Look what he did behind an awful OL, and then look what Christian Hackenberg did behind an awful OL. That's with a WR group in and out of the ER, and no running game to speak of until he provided it. UT was 92nd (13th in SEC) in rushing offense WITH the help of Dobbs. Without him, Hurd is not as effective, and they are more likely in the 120s. That's worst than Vandy. At worst this year, he'll put up Nick Marshall numbers and around 63% completion. At optimum conditions (decent OL, no injuries to top 4 WRs, #1 TE) he's a 3000 yard passer, 1000 yard rusher, 40 TD player type of player. MSU fan really talking about Dobbs? What about Prescott in his first real year starting? Go and look up the passing stats against LSU, USCe, TAMU, Ole Miss and Auburn. He passed for 2 TDs and 5 ints, combined against those guys. And his two TDs were against the 97th ranked pass defense of TAMU. His one time of over 5.8 ypa against those teams was 7.8 against Auburn. Oh, they were just the 102nd ranked pass defense. His passing stats are padded by the bowl game against Rice. He also played against Alcorn St, and Troy to pad his stats even more. So before MSU fan talks about Dobbs, remember what Prescott did his first year, and then look what he did in his second year. To even make a comparison to how bad Jennings was with the help of playing against ULM, NMST, and FCS team SHSU, to Dobbs against all power 5, is asinine.

Well this should end this thread

A UT fan even suggesting Gators are idiots is pure comedy.

Fact: Dobby Boy had trouble with Vandy

Fact: Dobby Boy played mostly against the lesser teams in the SEC to win three games....UT always front loads their schedule

Fact: UT fans pound their chests and proclaim Dobby Boy is the second coming...the media took the bait and feeds the masses....its what they do best.

UT is going to fall hard and we will all be laughing at you on this board. You will start to look at Butchy with sharper eye and sadness will follow when you will realize he is Ron Zook 2.

Let us all know when you feel the sting of the hook in your mouth.

Fact: You are coming to the Swamp and things may get for unpleasant for Dobby Boy when the run game aint working and he is planted into the turf on third downs. Antonio Morrison and Jarrod Davis are waiting for him.

I think Dobbs will be a pretty good QB. Pellerin, the QB we took last recruiting cycle reminds me a bit of him.

ave been bowl eligible without him last year. He literally ran QB draws all game against Vandy.

He had plenty of opportunities to throw the ball to vandy's defense?

Sure...but he didn't have anyone to throw the ball to.

Jalen Hurd - Injured in the first series.
Marquez North - Out
Ethan Wolf - Out
Daniel Helm - Out
Josh Smith - Out
Jason Croom - Out

Basically, you had Pig Howard and RB Marlin Lane who were healthy. It was Von Pearson's first game back after a high ankle sprain. There was hardly anyone to throw the ball to.
