Let's all take a moment to point and laugh at what is going down on the 40 Acres

True freshman LB Cecil Cherry: Gone (Touted as a potential day one starter at MLB as late as last week)
RS freshman RB Duke Catalon: Gone
Jerrod Heard considering a transfer because he can't pass Tyrone Swoopes on the depth chart, who himself reportedly looks poor early in camp
Word is there is open dissent within the locker room about Shawn Watson and his scheme/playcalling.
Malik Jefferson vocal about his displeasure with being moved to MLB after being promised he would play rush linebacker.
DB Devante Davis is now the ONLY one of the heralded "Florida Five" who will suit up for Texas this fall, after Charlie touted this group all winter and into signing day.
Derick Roberson and Tristan Nickelson facing suspension for locker room brawl.
All of this in the first week and change of fall camp.

Strong just trimming the fat, we only want players who want to be there, etc etc

In 40 Acres non-football news, they're grappling with statue-gate:
An eventful week, as the sips stumble back to Austin.

A task force on Monday recommended the University of Texas at Austin either relocate statues of Confederate leaders or add explanatory plaques.

Love all dat.
And personally I hope Malik Jefferson's sip career plays out much in the same way that Jonathan gray's has. May you consistently get assaulted by baylol & purple baylol.

Jonathan Gray was kind of an asshat, but Jefferson was a victim of bad parenting.

Yep. Dude wanted to come to A&M. They had to have an "intervention" to get him to sign with the shitty program in Austin. He had no choice. I hope ma and pa jefferson got paid enough.

I wonder what their recruiting class rank would be if adjusted for losing all these players?

i don't know what their two academic non-qualifiers were ranked, star-wise, but Cecil Cherry was a 4* I believe.

Normally you could do it on 247 and see what their total point score would be without those players, but for some reason the class calculator seems to be bugged and not working correctly.

Not only that, but he took totally unnecessary shots at Sumlin in the process. All that Sumlin wasn't open and honest with me BS. I don't feel sorry for him after that. If your parents want you to go to UT, just go. But don't shoot your mouth off on your way out the door.

I'm sure Burton had ABSOLUTELY NO INFLUENCE over that.

I didn't think it would all burn down this fast. I thought he'd follow the trajectory of Fran, because I really do see him as Fran with a superior melanin content. So, stumble out of the gate, lose a ton of players, but get some wins in the end of the second year, maybe the third, only to crash back down by year 4 or 5 and get fired. While he pulled the same recruiting trick as Fran (stack in a bunch of non-qualifiers, attitude problems and miscreants that no one wants so that your class ranking looks high in order to give you the appearance of momentum), at this point, he's looking at a year 2 that's way worse than year 1.
